First adoption week of September and what a star-studded event it was 💫! Look at the adorable pups that got to walk down the Grateful Dog Adoption red carpet and head straight to their new homes! Congratulations to Annabella, Clarabella, Cookie, Coquito, Kevin and Will Wood! We cannot wait to see more beautiful photos these pups living their best life: eating treats🍖, dressed in the finest clothes👑, and going on the best vacations🌴 with their families. We need you to look at 𝐏𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐲 for a second. 🐾

Really look.

That soft speckled coat.
That perfectly pink and black nose.
Those eyes looking straight up at you like she already knows you and has just been waiting for you to show up.

𝐏𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐲 is eight months old, white and gray and is the kind of gentle open face that makes complete strangers stop and say who IS that.

She is good with kids.
Good with dogs.
Good with cats.
House trained.
Full of heart.

At eight months old she is past the tiniest puppy chaos and still young enough to grow into your life like she was designed specifically for it.

And here is the thing about 𝐏𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐲.

She is not putting on a show.
She is not performing for the camera.
She is just sitting there being exactly who she is with her whole entire heart on display and somehow that is the most compelling thing we have ever seen.

Whoever adopts this girl is going to spend the rest of their life being looked at exactly like that.

Every single day.

We cannot think of anything better.

It's $𝟓 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐲 and we need to tell you about 𝐇𝐮𝐭𝐜𝐡.

This boy flew in from Texas as a puppy.

On an actual plane.

Landed in Maine.

Was adopted and later surrendered through absolutely no fault of his own.

And rode to his new foster home in the backseat sitting completely upright like a gentleman who had somewhere important to be and knew it.

THAT is 𝐇𝐮𝐭𝐜𝐡.

Eleven months old. Jet black. White tuxedo paws. A handsome Lab mix face with warm brown eyes that find yours immediately and do not let go.

Wonderful with kids, dogs and cats.

Sweet and completely full of heart it is almost unfair.

And then.

THEN.

Settled into his new foster home in Maine this boy discovered classical music and has not looked back since.

We did not see that coming.

Hutch absolutely did.

Texas to Maine. Surrendered to thriving. Backseat gentleman to classical music enthusiast.

What more could you possibly ask for.

Meet 𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐲. ✨🐾

He has the most extraordinary eyes.

Warm. Golden. The kind that look right into you and make you feel completely seen.

We are not exaggerating. You look at this boy and something just shifts.

𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐲 has a rich golden brown coat, a sturdy build and an enormous heart that he shares freely with absolutely everyone he meets.

Kids. Dogs. Cats. All of them. No exceptions.

He is house trained, settled beautifully into foster life in Maine and has fully committed to the belief that he is a lap dog.

He is not small.

He does not care.

He will find a way onto you and he will be very comfortable there thank you very much.

On a recent trip to the pet store 𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐲 encountered an enormously large bunny.

He did not miss a beat.

He simply decided they were best friends.

And the bunny felt the same.

That is just who Sparky is. Open hearted. Warm. Endlessly curious about the world and ready to love whatever is in front of him.

He makes your house feel fuller and your days feel better just by being in them.

Sparky has been waiting patiently for his person.

Let's try something different today.

What if fostering was not the big scary thing you have been talking yourself out of?

What if it was just a dog.
And a couch.
And a few weeks.

That is actually all it is.

We know what is running through your head right now.

"I work too much."
"My place is too small."
"I would fall in love and never let them go."

We have heard every single version of this conversation.

And we have also heard this.

"I had no idea it would feel like that."

That is the part nobody warns you about.

Fostering does not take from you.

It gives you something you did not even know you were missing.

A dog who has never had a soft place to land finds yours.
Figures out that humans can be trusted.
Grows. Blooms. Gets adopted.

And you sit there knowing you were the reason that happened.

As we close out August and experience our last days of summer days, it looks like we have closed out the last week of the month with 6 dogs finding their forever homes! Congratulations to Adolfito, Butter Pecan, Chewie, Jeanette, Waddles, and Zozo, all wonderful pups that have shown their fosters tender love and care and are ready to deliver all that and more to their new families.

Now for the whole month of August…

A note from your future foster dog. 🐾

Hi.

I do not know you yet but I have heard good things.

I am currently in a shelter in the south waiting for a transport date and a foster home in Maine and I wanted to reach out personally.

I promise I will not be any trouble.

I might be a little nervous at first.
I might not eat much on day one.
I might stay close to the door for the first few days just in case.

But give me a week.

Give me a week and I will figure out that your couch is the best place I have ever been.

I will learn your schedule.
I will wait by the door when you leave and lose my mind when you come home.
I will find your warmest spot and curl up in it like I have always lived there.

I am not asking for forever.

Just a few weeks.
A soft place to land.
Someone to show me that humans can be trusted.

My foster family gets everything covered from day one. Food, supplies, all of it. They just have to open the door.

The last two weeks of adoptions!

Our stars Niko and Zinnia, adopted last week, found their sparkle again and are ready to bring it with them to their new home. And just like every flower in the prettiest garden, grateful dogs are one of a kind, a tailored final piece of their forever family’s puzzle. Their personalities and unconditional love offer vibrant and unforgettable colors in this pack’s wonderful little garden. Our two adopted sprouts from this week, Loretta May and Pawsage, are going to need the love, patience, and guidance to grow into their own beautiful flower and we are so happy they have found a family that is willing to provide that. Congratulations to Niko, Zinnia, Loretta May, and Pawsage and their forever families and stay tuned for the next update! 🎉 🐕 🏠

Someone named these puppies after pizza toppings and now we are hungry AND emotional and we did not plan for either of those things today. 🍕

Meet 𝐌𝐮𝐭𝐭𝐬𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐚 and 𝐏𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐢.

Sisters.
Four months old.
Responsible for at least two people ordering delivery tonight and we are not sorry.

𝐌𝐮𝐭𝐭𝐬𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐚 is head to toe brindle with dark soulful eyes and a quiet confidence that is genuinely intimidating for a puppy this small. She does not walk into a room. She arrives. Something about her just stops you completely and you cannot explain it and honestly you do not need to.

𝐏𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐢 has a bold black and white blaze running straight down the center of her face like nature sat down one day and said let me just make this one completely impossible to ignore.

And then absolutely delivered.

Everyone who sees her stops mid sentence.

Every single time.

Both great with kids, dogs and cats.

Somewhere out there are two families who are about to adopt a dog named after a pizza topping and tell that story forever.
