According to policek9day.org , September 1st, is National Police K-9 Day.

It’s a special day to honor police dogs and memorialize those fallen K-9’s who gave their lives in the line of duty. Sadly 9 Law Enforcement K-9’a have died in the line of duty thus far in 2026 Gods speed and thank you for your ultimate sacrifice and service.

How does the Bloodhound & their Bloodhound Nose Work?
The large nostrils allow for the scent to come in.
The long snout has more olfactories (scent receptors) than other dogs (German Shepherds have 225 million more than humans, Bloodhounds have 300,000,000 more than humans).
Their ears sweep the scent, and the excess skin on their head & neck hold the scent.
Even their drool helps to enhance the scent.
They can identify the specific scent (person) they are trailing.
They love the "Find Them Game" and most real working bloodhound would trail until their kidneys failed.
Remember they have been bred for over 1200 years to TRAIL and hunt you down.
