The Kinston Police Department is assisting Lenoir County ABC Police in locating 30-year-old Deshawn Moore of Jones County. Moore is wanted in connection with the assault of a 63-year-old ABC store clerk that occurred on March 11, 2026. Moore is known to frequent the Kinston area and may still be nearby.

UPDATE: Shamiya Cannon

On February 9, 2026, Shamiya Cannon turned herself in and was taken into custody. She is currently being held in the Lenoir County Jail without bond due to being on pre-trial release at the time of this incident.

As a reminder, this post was originally published as a wanted person alert. It has now been updated to reflect her arrest.

KPD officers have obtained arrest warrants for Shamiya Cannon, 27, of Lenoir County, in connection to a Hit & Run that occurred on January 30, 2026, in the area of Laroque Avenue.

Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office seeks the public’s help locating a Missing Person

The Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s assistance in locating 30-year-old Justin Maurice Bright of Goldsboro.
Justin was reported missing from Lenoir County around 3:30 a.m. on October 23, 2025. He was last seen around 4:30 p.m. on October 22, 2025, in the area of La Grange, North Carolina.

Justin is described as being approximately 6 feet 2 inches tall, weighing between 155 and 165 pounds. He was last seen wearing black jeans, a black shirt, white and black sneakers, and a red durag.

Anyone who has seen Justin or has information regarding his whereabouts is urged to contact the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office at 252-559-6118.

**CASE UPDATE**

On September 16, 2025, at approximately 9:00 p.m., Prince Ellison was taken into custody without incident by members of the KPD SWAT Team, KPD Investigations Division, the Lenoir County SRT, and the Greene County Sheriff’s Office. Ellison was located at a residence in Walstonburg, North Carolina.

On behalf of Chief Keith Goyette and the Kinston Police Department, we extend our sincere appreciation to all assisting agencies for their outstanding teamwork and support in bringing this investigation to a safe conclusion.

Kinston Police Department – Murder Warrant Issued

Kinston Police Department detectives have obtained warrants for 22-year-old Prince Ellison in connection with the murder of Daryl Dudley.

Ellison is considered armed and dangerous. Do not attempt to approach or apprehend him.

Homicide Investigation – East Bright Street

On Thursday, August 28, 2025, at approximately 11:53 p.m., officers with the Kinston Police Department were dispatched to a report of a subject who had been shot near the 500 block of East Bright Street.

Responding officers located the victim, 52-year-old Daryl Dudley of Kinston, inside an apartment on the 500 block of East Bright Street. He was found unresponsive with injuries consistent with a gunshot wound. EMS was dispatched, but the victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Kinston Police Department detectives and crime scene personnel responded and are actively investigating this incident.

The Kinston Police Department places the highest priority on investigating violent crimes in our community. We remain committed to pursuing justice without compromise and continue to seek the assistance of the public we proudly serve.

Unsolved Murder – Rashaan Williams
Case #14-19826

On September 12, 2014, at approximately 7:12 AM, Rashaan Williams was shot while riding a scooter on George Avenue as he exited Jack Rountree Homes. Tragically, Rashaan died from his injuries.

Kinston Police Department investigators continue to seek answers. Someone knows what happened.

🕯️ Unsolved Murder – Emanuel Jones 🕯️

On September 4, 2008, at 8:16 AM, Kinston Police Officers responded to 1013 Hicks Avenue, the residence of Emanuel Jones. Officers arrived to find Mr. Jones unresponsive and sadly deceased from multiple stab wounds.

Today, we continue to seek justice for Mr. Jones and closure for his family. This case remains unsolved, and we are asking for the community’s help. Even the smallest piece of information could make the difference in bringing resolution to this tragedy.
