We follow the KCSD schedule so if school is closed we are as well! Any delays, we will be open depending on the continuing conditions of the weather for that day. We will keep everyone posted on here as well! ❄️🌨️
Attention KCSD Families! ❄️🌨️ As we approach the winter season, we want to remind you of our emergency closing procedures to ensure the safety of our students and staff.
📅 School Closing & Two-Hour Delay Decisions
- Decisions to close schools or delay opening are usually made by 5:30 AM.
- Alerts are sent via text, email, and our KCSD App. Updates are also posted on our website and page, and shared with local radio and TV stations.
🚌 Factors Considered
- Road conditions
- Amount of snow or ice accumulated
- Weather predictions, especially if school is already in session
- Building conditions (electricity, heat, etc.)
- Temperature and wind chills
🕒 Early Dismissal
If conditions worsen while students are in school, the Superintendent may decide to close school early. In this case, there are two dismissal schedules:
- Morning: 10:15 AM for secondary, 11:15 AM for elementary (lunch not served)
- Afternoon: 12:30 PM for secondary, 1:30 PM for elementary
- All after-school programs, athletic competitions, and night school programs will be canceled.
👨👩👧👦 What Should Parents Do?
1. Check in with your school to ensure all emergency contact information is up to date.
2. Monitor our website, the KCSD App, and local media for updates.
