At 19 years old, Lovely is almost ready to graduate from our care. She was burned over 40% of her body when she was just 6 years old. She came to our hospital when she was 9 and says our team helped her become more active and she now wants to mentor other burn survivors.

Cooler days mean more bonfires and that can be a recipe for an accidental burn. So here are a few reminders to keep your family safe:

✔️ Establish a circle of safety - a safe zone around the fire where children don't cross.
✔️ Keep tents and other flammables far from the fire
✔️The coals from an extinguished fire can stay hot enough to burn for up to 24 hours.

Maintain a ‘safe space ‘ of at least 3 feet around your grills and fire pits.

This weekend marks the unofficial end of summer and many people will be firing up their grill. That's often where we see accidental burns from small hands that get too close.

Fourteen-year-old Jeremiah reels in only the best catch with his bass portrait!

He tapped into his creative side while in our child life playroom. Jeremiah came to us after his dirt bike fell on him, burning his leg. But he says he knows he'll be casting again soon!
