Creating an equitable care environment starts with making LGBTQIA+ patients feel safe, welcome, and seen.

✔️Be sensitive to patients' experiences and show a willingness to learn and support them on their journey
✔️Use inclusive language in forms, documentation, and patient portals
✔️Advocate for inclusive practices within your organization
✔️Stay connected to LGBTQIA+ community support resources

The LGBTQIA+ community has had a difficult history with the healthcare system, and those experiences still impact many patients today. When patients feel comfortable and respected, they are more likely to open up, helping healthcare providers better understand their needs and make informed care decisions together.

Find local resources through the Welcome Project PA, which allows users to search for LGBTQIA+ supports by county. 🌈

As the weather becomes warmer with increasing humidity, the number of mosquitos will be rising. Make sure to take precautions against mosquito bites by protecting your skin!

The West Nile Virus can be contacted through mosquito bites from an infected mosquito. Children are prone to mosquito bites as the weather warms and outside play occurs more often. Make sure to check for signs of the West Nile Virus or any bites!

Stay safe!

This May, PA AAP members traveled to Harrisburg to advocate for children's health and well-being. We want to thank all of our members that supported and advocated for the future of pediatrics.

We had such an amazing, productive day as we talked to legislators and members of the judicial and executive branches, pushing for a positive change in pediatrics.
