It’s been a BIG week for the animals at 🐮🐐🦆

On Monday, CeeCee and Waffles surprised the kindergarten class during their visit to Prairie Animal Hospital after spending Sunday and Monday nights in the barn thanks to the amazing staff who provided the comfiest overnight accommodations. ❤️

We’re pretty sure the girls spent the morning whispering to the kids:
“Pssst… this isn’t even all of it. You should come visit the farm sometime.” 😂

Then on Wednesday, the kindergarteners came to WeeShire Mains to pet goats, learn baby goat names, meet the cows, explore the updated barn and new chicken palace, see the ducks’ fancy water filtration system, and even take turns pretending to be ducks in the little duck coop.

The animals loved every minute of the attention, and we loved watching the kids learn, explore, and laugh their way around the farm. ✨

We can’t wait to welcome more families, classes, and visitors out to the farm this summer for more hands-on adventures and animal snuggles. ☀️

🫐 When neighbors show up, big things happen.
When the Vincents needed their Bobcat back mid-project (totally fair), Brian D Johnson and Johnson Construction stepped in without hesitation — donating the use of their skid steer to help WeeShire Mains finish what we started.
Johnson Construction’s Bobcat tackled the second half of our blueberry field expansion — hundreds of buckets drilled, row after row, moving us closer to the U-Pick destination we are building for this community.
Together the Vincents and Johnson Construction made our entire 31-row blueberry field possible. That’s what partnership looks like in the Nebraska Panhandle.
Brian — from every child who will someday pick a blueberry at WeeShire, thank you. 🙏 This is what it means to build something together.

🚜 New skills unlocked — thanks to good neighbors.

Ken Vincent said yes before we almost finished asking. His son Bob showed up, handed Sarah the keys, and patiently taught her everything she needed to know about operating a Bobcat skid steer to drill lots of holes. We’re pretty sure “Bobcat Operator“ is officially going on her resume now. 😄.
The Vincents worked with us on the first half of our blueberry field expansion — drilling row after row of new buckets — and worked with us to stay within our tight budget. That kind of neighborly generosity means everything to a small nonprofit just getting its roots in the ground.
To Ken, Bob, and the whole Vincent family — thank you for the trust, the patience, the lessons, and the laughter. 🫐🙏

Big Shout-out to Johnson Construction! 🏗️

We wanted to take a moment to publicly thank Brian, the owner of Johnson Construction, for being such an incredible supporter of our vision here at WeeShire Mains.

Finding someone who truly listens can be rare, but Brian has spent so much time hearing our ideas and helping us navigate the path forward. From his incredibly generous donation of supplies to build the Chicken Palace 🐣 to his current work making vital repairs to our barn (made possible by a grant from a private foundation), his craftsmanship and heart are unmatched.

If you’re looking for a team that values community and vision as much as quality work, look no further than Brian and his crew. (Thank you Andy, too)

Thank you for helping us build our dream!

One quick decision can change everything.

In August 2024, Ken (the human, not Kenny the fainting goat) suffered a stroke. Because the signs were recognized quickly, he got to the hospital immediately.

Moments like that are part of why WeeShire Mains exists — to support healing, recovery, and community for those navigating brain injuries and trauma.

This week our family is participating in the Kids Heart Challenge Lifesavers League, raising funds for heart and stroke research and teaching kids how to recognize stroke signs and perform Hands-Only CPR.

When communities learn these skills, lives are saved.

If you'd like to support the challenge and help spread stroke awareness, you can do that here:

The American Heart Association offers programs for the classroom and for the gym to help kids get healthier and perform better in school.

🌪️ We’ve had wind. 💨 Not “breezy.”🙂‍↔️Not “a little gusty.”🫨

More like…😜“Hold onto your livestock and question your life choices” wind.

🌪️ WIND: 1
🏚️ SHELTER: 0
🐂 NICK NACK: emotionally unbothered

The shelter didn’t survive. 😭
Nick Nack did.

And he’s out here standing next to the scene with that fluffy, windswept,

“Who? Me?” face. 😇

Acting like he didn’t just supervise the whole situation.

“Wasn’t me.” 😌

🎶 Ride the wind…
