What you don’t see in this photo is just how packed the cab of my truck is too. 😂❤️

And so it begins… 🚛

This is definitely not the first truckload I’ve picked up, and it won’t be the last. This is just one of many loads of baby items, medical supplies, and other essential resources we are already gathering for the next Market with a Mission.

I am incredibly grateful for the continued partnership and support of Faith In Action and Baylor Scott & White. What I’m able to do in this community would simply not be possible without organizations willing to collaborate, share resources, and help us get them directly into the hands of the people who need them.

This is what partnership looks like. This is what community looks like. And we’re just getting started. ❤️

A huge THANK YOU specifically to our Copperas Cove Jersey Mike’s Subs location for helping us take care of the volunteers who work so hard to take care of our community! ❤️🥪

Our Market with a Mission distributions are long days. Behind every box of food, every vehicle loaded, and every family served are volunteers giving their time and energy to make it happen.

Our Copperas Cove Jersey Mike’s team stepped up and provided sandwiches for our volunteers, helping us keep everyone fed, fueled, and ready to serve throughout the day.

This is exactly why supporting our local businesses matters.

When a business right here in Copperas Cove chooses to support a community outreach program, that generosity reaches far beyond the meal itself. By feeding our volunteers, Jersey Mike’s helped support the work those volunteers were doing for families throughout our community.

You fueled our volunteers.
Our volunteers fueled the mission.
Together, we served our community. ❤️

To the entire team at Jersey Mike’s Subs – Copperas Cove, THANK YOU for showing up for Market with a Mission and investing in the people who make these distributions possible.

Please remember to support the local businesses that continue to support our community!

A very special THANK YOU to Dr. Evelyn Robertson and Maria Alvarado from Congressman John Carter’s team for coming out and supporting our Women Veterans Conference. 🇺🇸❤️

Your presence in that room meant more to me than you will ever know. Having community and congressional leaders take the time to show up, listen, connect, and stand alongside our women veterans sends an important message that their service, experiences, and voices matter.

We are also incredibly grateful to Congressman John Carter and his team for providing a United States flag to be entered into our Silent Auction. The winning bidder received a flag flown over the United States Capitol in Washington, D.C., along with a corresponding certificate a truly meaningful piece for an event honoring the women who have served our country.

Our Women Veterans Conference is about connection, recognition, mental health and su***de prevention, and making sure women veterans know there is a community standing beside them.

Dr. Robertson and Maria, thank you for showing up for us. Thank you for your support, your partnership, and your willingness to continue working alongside us in the community.

I greatly appreciate you both, and I look forward to everything we can continue accomplishing together. 🇺🇸

Together, we serve. Together, we strengthen our community.

🐝🍯 YOU KNOW WHEN I’M INVOLVED, IT’S NEVER A DULL MOMENT. 😂

So… apparently this weekend’s community adventure was a BEE RESCUE. And yes, it ended with me in an ambulance. 🤦‍♀️😂

Because why would anything I do ever be simple?

One of our local Copperas Cove parks had an interesting little situation developing. A Boy Scout troop had previously installed a bird box along the trail, and nature decided to do what nature does…

The birds and the bees. Literally. 🐦🐝😂

Except the bees apparently served the birds an eviction notice and completely took over the box.

For a while, it was absolutely beautiful watching this honeybee colony grow. But as the hive continued getting larger, it became clear that its location right beside a hiking trail was no longer the safest place—for the bees OR for the people using the trail.

That’s when members of the Bell-Coryell County Beekeepers Association stepped in to safely relocate the colony.

I had the honor of walking these wonderful ladies out to the hive, and let me tell y’all something:

BEEKEEPERS ARE BUILT DIFFERENT. 😂🐝

As Soldiers, we like to believe we’re prepared for just about anything.

I am here to publicly admit:

I WAS NOT BUILT FOR THAT BEEKEEPING SUIT. 😂

It was approximately 107 degrees, around 5 PM, and although I frequent these trails and hike them regularly, apparently hiking them while wrapped from head to toe in protective bee gear is an entirely different experience.

Unfortunately, the Texas heat won that round.

I ended up experiencing heat exhaustion and had to call 911. The Copperas Cove Fire & Rescue team responded incredibly quickly, immediately started fluids, took excellent care of me, and transported me to the hospital.

I am incredibly grateful for their professionalism and care. ❤️🚒🚑

BUT HERE IS THE IMPORTANT PART…

🐝 WE SAVED THE BEES! 🐝

The colony was successfully removed and has now been relocated to a bee farm in Belton, Texas, where these ladies can continue growing their colony, building their comb, pollinating, and producing plenty of honey. 🍯🌻

And you better believe I already plan on visiting my new bee friends.

I want updated pictures.

I want to see how the colony grows.

And after everything we went through together, I feel like I’m entitled to at least ONE jar of honey. 😂🍯

What started as a bird box became a honeybee colony, which became a community rescue mission—and now these bees have a safe new home.

Huge thank you to the Bell-Coryell County Beekeepers Association for answering the call and making sure this colony could be relocated instead of destroyed.

And another huge thank you to Copperas Cove Fire & Rescue for taking care of the human who apparently needed rescuing too. 😂❤️

Just another completely normal day in Copperas Cove.

Save the bees. Support your local beekeepers. And hydrate before putting on a bee suit in Texas. 🐝🍯😂

A huge THANK YOU to Smoothie King Copperas Cove for showing up for Market with a Mission and helping us take care of the people who spend their day taking care of our community! ❤️

Our Market with a Mission distributions are long days, and keeping our volunteers fed and hydrated is incredibly important. Smoothie King stepped in and provided smoothies for our volunteers—and even took the time to write “Market with a mission! ❤️” inside the boxes.

It may seem like a small gesture, but those personal touches mean so much.

When local businesses step up to support our volunteers, they are ultimately supporting every family those volunteers are there to serve. Community outreach truly takes a community.

Thank you, Smoothie King Copperas Cove, for helping us keep our volunteers going and for being part of the mission!

A heartfelt THANK YOU to State Representative Hillary Hickland for your continued support of our Women Veterans Conference! 🇺🇸

Representative Hickland generously presented us with a Texas flag that was flown over the Texas State Capitol in Austin, accompanied by its official certificate. The flag was then entered into our Women Veterans Conference Silent Auction, helping support the work and mission behind this event.

Our Women Veterans Conference is about more than gathering together. It brings awareness to mental health and su***de prevention, builds connections to resources, and reminds women veterans throughout our community that they are seen, valued, and supported.

Hillary, your support means more than you know. Thank you for showing up for our women veterans and for contributing such a meaningful piece to our Silent Auction.

We appreciate you and your continued support of our veteran community! ❤️🤍💙

❤️ MARKET WITH A MISSION: THIS IS WHAT COMMUNITY IMPACT LOOKS LIKE.

Last year, Market With a Mission started with a simple belief:

When a community works together, we can accomplish far more than any one organization could ever accomplish alone.

And Bell and Coryell County showed us exactly what that looks like.

🥫 90,000+ pounds of food distributed
🏠 Approximately 9,000 households reached
🩺 2,000+ medical and healthcare items distributed
🍼 2,000+ baby and infant-care items provided
👕 500+ articles of clothing distributed
🙌 More than 100 volunteers helping with setup, distribution, deliveries, family assistance and event operations

But those numbers only tell part of the story.

Behind every box of food was a family.

Behind every medical item was someone who needed it.

Behind every delivery was a senior, Veteran, working family, individual with limited transportation, or neighbor who may not otherwise have been able to reach these resources.

And behind ALL of it was COMMUNITY.

❤️ OUR FOOD SPONSORS SHOWED UP.

Market With a Mission means long days for our volunteers often beginning hours before the first family arrives and continuing until the last box is distributed and the Civic Center is cleaned up.

Our local restaurants and businesses stepped up to help make sure the people serving our community were taken care of, too.

A tremendous THANK YOU to our food, meal, beverage and refreshment sponsors who supported our volunteers throughout last year’s distributions, including:

🍕 Marco’s Pizza Copperas Cove
🥪 Jimmy John’s Copperas Cove
🥪 Jersey Mike’s Subs Copperas Cove
🐔 Chick-fil-A Copperas Cove
🥤 Jesse’s Juice Bar
🍩 Dunkin’ Copperas Cove
🍽️ Little Tex
🍔 Bubba’s 33
🥤 Smoothie King Copperas Cove
☕ Black Rifle Coffee Harker Heights

These businesses didn’t have to say yes.

They chose to.

They donated meals, drinks, refreshments and other support that helped keep our volunteers moving through incredibly long days of serving thousands of Central Texas households.

And our food sponsors were only one piece of an incredible community effort.

Organizations and businesses including Central Texas Food Bank, Baylor Scott & White Faith in Action, Graze Craze, Copperas Cove Rotary, Bring Everyone In The Zone, GTC United Operation Stand Down Central Texas and many more businesses, schools, civic organizations, Veterans groups and individual volunteers contributed resources, products, services, manpower and community connections.

Some donated products.

Some fed our volunteers.

Some brought manpower.

Some provided medical and household resources.

Some connected families with services.

Some simply called and asked:

“What do you need?”

Every single contribution mattered.

And what makes this impact even more meaningful is that it was built through sponsorships, private financial support, in-kind donations, community partnerships and VOLUNTEERS.

Now we’re preparing to do it again.

But Market With a Mission has never been simply about handing someone a box of food.

Food opens the door. Connection builds community.

We bring nonprofits, businesses, healthcare organizations, Veterans organizations, schools, civic groups, volunteers and community resources into the same space so that families don’t just leave with groceries they leave knowing what resources exist and who in their community is ready to help.

This is what happens when businesses don’t just operate IN a community they become PART of the community.

This is neighbors helping neighbors.

This is community in action.

❤️ THIS IS MARKET WITH A MISSION.

To every sponsor, restaurant, business, organization, volunteer and community partner who helped make last year’s impact possible:

THANK YOU.

And to the businesses and organizations wondering how they can become part of this year’s mission there is room at the table for you.

Some community partners simply show up differently. ❤️

A huge THANK YOU to Jess’s Juice Bar for continuing to go above and beyond for our community and our volunteers!

During four different Market with a Mission events last year, Jess’s Juice Bar provided our volunteers with freshly squeezed juice and breakfast tacos, helping keep everyone fueled during some very long distribution days.

But she didn’t stop there.

She took some of the same types of ingredients being provided to our families and prepared sample bites for the community, giving people ideas for how they could turn the food they received into something delicious at home.

THAT is community partnership.

What makes it even more special is that she doesn’t do these things for recognition. She genuinely does it because she wants to feed her community and take care of people.

I have been honored to serve beside her in our community, and I look forward to all of the future endeavors we will continue to take on together.

And listen—if you have never had Jess’s tacos, you are MISSING OUT! 🌮 These absolutely need to become a Taco Tuesday staple!

Please support the businesses that continue to support our community:
