As the 2026 Summit - Power of Advocacy comes to a close, we leave feeling inspired, energized, and deeply grateful for the opportunity to learn alongside advocates, counselors, prevention educators, SANE nurses, and community leaders from across Florida.

Over the past several days, we explored innovative approaches to survivor services, prevention education, advocacy, leadership, and building stronger communities. We were reminded that every conversation, every act of support, and every voice raised in advocacy has the power to create change.

At Christina’s Courage, we are proud to bring these ideas, connections, and renewed passion back to the Florida Keys as we continue our mission of supporting survivors, expanding access to services, and strengthening our community through education and prevention.

Thank you for hosting another incredible summit and to everyone who shared their knowledge, experiences, and dedication to this important work.

Neighbors Helping Neighbors During Sexual Assault Awareness Month
April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM), and I wanted to take a moment to highlight an organization right here in our community that truly saves lives.
Christina’s Courage is the only sexual assault advocacy center serving Monroe County, providing crisis support, advocacy, and compassionate care to survivors when they need it most. Their work is vital—and it’s powered by community support.

This month, they’re raising funds to purchase a forensic exam camera, a critical tool that helps collect evidence with dignity and accuracy, supporting both healing and justice for survivors.

At Christina’s Courage, our wall is covered in butterflies.

Not decorations. Not a project.
But pieces of real stories.

Each one was drawn by a survivor. Some are bright and bold. Some are simple. Some took courage just to start.

They represent something we see every day — healing doesn’t happen overnight. It’s slow. It’s layered. It’s sometimes messy. But over time, it’s beautiful.

When you walk into our Key West office, you see more than art.
You see bravery.
You see growth.
You see people choosing to keep going.

Meet the Christina’s Courage team!

Anne, LMHC has been a trauma-informed licensed mental health professional with Christina’s Courage for the past four years, providing counseling and advocacy to sexual assault survivors. Outside of work, she spends time at the beach in the Florida Keys with her dog, Reese.

Janna, RN and Natalie, RN are forensic nurses serving the Florida Keys. They provide medical forensic exams with a survivor-centered, trauma-informed approach, supporting individuals through the exam process and available options.

This team works together to ensure survivors are met with respect, care, and support.

💙 Anne, LMHC
Anne has been a trauma-informed licensed mental health professional with Christina’s Courage for the past four years, walking alongside survivors with empathy, safety, and unwavering support. Her work centers on healing after sexual trauma—helping survivors reclaim their voice, power, and sense of self.
When she’s off the clock, you’ll find Anne at the beach in the Keys with her loyal sidekick, Reese, soaking in sunshine!

🩺 Janna, RN – Forensic Nurse Examiner
Janna is one of our dedicated forensic nurses serving survivors in the Florida Keys. She provides trauma-informed forensic exams with dignity, choice, and respect—ensuring survivors are believed, supported, and never alone during one of the hardest moments of their lives.

Natalie brings compassion and clinical expertise to her role as a forensic nurse examiner, offering survivor-centered care during medical forensic exams. Her presence helps create a calm, empowering space where survivors can make informed decisions at their own pace.
