Our Genesis House is the only nationally accredited recovery residence in the Kerrville/Ingram area. Prodigal Road Ministries was founded in 2023 after one of our founders, Anthoney Farmer, experienced a massive deliverance from a life riddled with drugs, same-sex attraction, a same-sex marriage, witchcraft, and the occult. In

2022, Anthoney had a deep and profound encounter with the Lord after attending a prayer meeting, hosted by Marcy Gate Ministries and Cross Kingdom Church at “The Empty Cross” prayer garden in Kerrville where he was baptized and rededicated his life to Christ. He experienced a mass deliverance from his drug addiction, his same-sex attraction, depression, and co-dependency. His father, Britt, is a Church of Christ minister and his mother, Lisa, is a Christian Pre-school teacher. Anthoney battled his entire life trying to find his identity. For 16 years Anthoney ran from God and chose a life of the world. In 2008, he was diagnosed with HIV, a diagnosis that changed his life forever. Anthoney was a victim of sexual abuse from ages 6-8 years old by a man in his community, a fact that he had completely repressed until 2017. In 2019, Anthoney’s father’s church experienced an active shooter event in which his father’s best friend was killed. In 2021, Anthoney had lost everything including his job, his nursing license, his home, and his money. He was homeless in Austin when a friend offered him a place to live in Kerrville. On March 26, 2022, Anthoney moved into a sober living home in Kerrville and began attending Cross Kingdom Church. He took Christ on in baptism in May of 2022 and was shortly after invited to begin attending a small group for his church at the home of Wayne & Susan Johnson. Wayne & Susan began discipling Anthoney into a deeper relationship with Jesus and the Holy Spirit. After picking up Anthoney one day from his sober living home, Wayne Johnson asked Anthoney what it would take to open a Christian discipleship/transitional living home for men coming out of addiction. After much study, discussion and wrestling with the desire to see more men delivered in the way that Anthoney was delivered, Wayne, Susan and Anthoney founded Prodigal Road Ministries. Wayne & Susan have spent their whole lives dedicated to ministry and helped Pastor a church in Harlingen for many years where they raised their three daughters in the Lord. Wayne & Susan are the spiritual patriarchs of Prodigal Road Ministries. Our mission and vision would not have been possible without their spiritual, emotional, practical, and monetary leadership. Through our discipleship / transitional living program (Prodigal Road House); and our school, church, and business-outreach ministry (Prodigal Journey) we strive to bring men into a right relationship with Jesus Christ so they can walk in their God-given identity.

This week’s Waypoint Wednesday hit something deep in me… and I believe it’s going to challenge a lot of us in the best way.

We love to talk about the fire of God.
We pray for it.
We sing about it.
We ask for more of it.

But scripture shows us a pattern that we can’t skip…

Water comes before fire.

In Isaiah 43, God doesn’t say if you pass through the waters… He says when.
And only after that does He talk about walking through the fire and not being burned.

There is an order to how God moves in our lives.

Before the fire… there is cleansing.
Before the filling… there is surrender.
Before the power… there is purification.

This isn’t just teaching… it’s an invitation.

If you’ve been asking God for more fire in your life, this message may shift your perspective on what He’s doing right now.

He’s not withholding from you…
He’s preparing you.

Clean hands. Pure heart. Soaked altar. Then the fire falls.

Would love for you to take some time and watch this week’s Waypoint Wednesday. I believe it’s going to speak to you right where you are.

Let me know what stands out to you after you watch it 🙏

This week’s Waypoint Wednesday is one that goes deep.

There’s a powerful parallel in Scripture between King David and Jesus that reveals something about betrayal, love, and redemption that we don’t always stop to see.

David was betrayed by his son Absalom. He crossed the Kidron Valley, went up the Mount of Olives weeping, and later cried out, “I wish I had died instead of you.” A father longing to take the place of the one who betrayed him… but he couldn’t.

Then Jesus walks that same path.

In Gospel of Luke 22, after Peter denies Him, the rooster crows… and Jesus turns and looks at him.

That moment is everything.

Not a look of rejection. Not a look of anger.

A look of love… from the One who was about to do what David could only long for.

Where David said, “I wish I could die in your place,”
Jesus said, “I will.”

And maybe you know what it’s like to have your own moment where you didn’t stand, where you stayed quiet, where you pulled back.

But that moment didn’t disqualify Peter.
And it doesn’t disqualify you.

Jesus didn’t just come to cover your failure.
He came to take your place.

🎥 Watch this week’s Waypoint Wednesday and be reminded that His love meets you even in your lowest moment.

Happy Birthday, Wayne! 🎉🎂

Today we want to take a moment to celebrate Wayne Johnson and say thank you for the incredible blessing he is to Prodigal Road Ministries.

Wayne pours so much of his heart, time, wisdom, and encouragement into this ministry every single day. Whether it is showing up to support the men, speaking life into them, praying with them, or simply being present, Wayne carries a father’s heart that makes a real difference in the lives of the men we serve.

On behalf of the entire Prodigal Road family, thank you for believing in this mission and for investing so faithfully in the journey of restoration for so many men. Your encouragement, joy, and steady presence help make this ministry what it is.

This week’s Waypoint Wednesday is a deeply personal message from Anthoney.

In this episode, Anthoney reflects on the story of the woman with the issue of blood in the Gospel of Luke chapter 8. For twelve years she lived with a condition that caused her to be isolated from others and pushed to the margins of society. Yet everything changed when she pressed through the crowd and touched the edge of Jesus’ garment. In that moment, the flow of blood stopped and power flowed from Jesus into her body.

But this story points to something even deeper.

The woman reached out because she wanted the bleeding in her life to stop. Yet Jesus would later willingly pour out His own blood so that humanity could be healed, restored, and brought back into relationship with God.

In this Waypoint Wednesday, Anthoney also shares part of his own testimony. In 2008 he was diagnosed with HIV and knows firsthand what it feels like to carry a diagnosis that can cause people to distance themselves. In 2024, while attending a conference in Lancaster, Pennsylvania and listening to Dan Mohler Sr. speak, someone prayed for him and shared a prophetic word. They said they saw Jesus standing in front of Anthoney with his hands in the hands of Christ, and they heard the Lord say, “It is My blood that courses through his veins, not his own.”

In that moment the power of God touched him and faith rose up in a powerful way. Since that time, Anthoney has continued to stand in faith, believing for the fullness of the healing that Jesus paid for through His blood.

This week’s Waypoint Wednesday explores the power of the blood of Jesus and the truth that His blood still speaks today.

If you need hope, encouragement, or a reminder of what Jesus has accomplished through the cross, this message will bless you.

Today we had the honor of welcoming Kerrville City Council members Kent Mckinney and Delayne Sigerman to tour the Prodigal Road Ministries Jireh House.

It was a meaningful opportunity to share the heart behind what we are doing here. At Prodigal Road Ministries, our mission is to awaken, disciple, and release men into their God given identity and destiny. We believe that every man who walks through our doors is not a project to be fixed but a long awaited miracle to be discovered.

Even though the Jireh House sits just outside the Kerrville city limits, it means a great deal to us that our city leadership is still willing to learn about and engage with the organizations serving the men and families of this community. Their willingness to come, listen, and ask questions reflects the kind of leadership that strengthens a city.

We are grateful for Kent and Delayne taking time out of their busy schedules to see firsthand how Prodigal Road Ministries is creating a space where men can encounter hope, accountability, and authentic relationships as they rebuild their lives.

Kerrville is stronger when leaders and community organizations work together for the good of the people.

Thank you both for visiting the Jireh House today and for your service to Kerrville.

Today we celebrate a beautiful beginning!

Congratulations to Marc Farella and his bride Kaylee as they are married today in Boerne, Texas. What a special day as two lives become one and begin a new chapter together.

Marc serves as one of the Advisory Board Members for Prodigal Road Ministries, and we are incredibly grateful for the contribution and encouragement that he brings to our mission. At Prodigal Road, we deeply value people who walk alongside us in helping men find healing, restoration, and purpose through Christ, and Marc has been a meaningful part of that journey.

Marc, thank you for serving with us and for investing your time and heart into the work God is doing through this ministry. We are honored to walk alongside you.

Kaylee and Marc, we are praying that your marriage will be filled with joy, peace, laughter, and a deep sense of God’s presence as you build your life together. May your home be a place of love, faith, and hospitality for many years to come.

Congratulations from all of us at Prodigal Road Ministries! 🎉💍

This week’s Waypoint Wednesday is coming out a little later than usual today.

The video upload took quite a bit longer than expected, but I’m grateful to finally have it ready to share with everyone.

This episode comes out of my time earlier this week in San Antonio at the Texas Substance Use Symposium at the Henry B. González Convention Center. While I was there, the Lord kept highlighting something that sits right at the intersection of the recovery community and the Christian walk.

Connection.

In this week’s Waypoint I share a powerful moment that started with a simple introduction to someone I met while checking out of the Hilton Palacio del Rio, and how that conversation opened the door to speak about faith, hope, and the work God is doing in the recovery field.

The reality is there are many believers serving in behavioral health and recovery who are quietly carrying their faith into their work every day. Often they are simply waiting for the right moment for the conversation to go deeper.

This message also explores how peer support and discipleship are deeply connected. Jesus modeled what it means to walk alongside people, meet them where they are, and help them discover transformation and purpose.

Recovery and the Kingdom of God both remind us of the same truth.

We were never meant to walk this road alone.

I hope this week’s Waypoint encourages you.

Let me know what part of the message stood out to you the most.

On March 1st we had one of those nights that reminds us why we do what we do at Prodigal Road Ministries.

We gathered the men from the Jireh House and the Prodigal Journey programs for a family night together. The evening started with taking the guys out to Bella Sera for dinner, and it was a great time around the table. There is something powerful about sharing a meal together. Conversations were had, laughter was shared, and the men were able to enjoy a moment of connection and fellowship.

After dinner we came back and spent time speaking prophetic words over the men. It was a powerful moment of encouragement as each man was reminded that God sees him, knows his story, and still has purpose and destiny written over his life.

One of the core values of Prodigal Road Ministries is Authentic Relationships. Recovery and discipleship were never meant to happen in isolation. Real transformation happens when men experience what healthy community and family actually look like.

Our heart is to make sure every man who walks through our doors experiences that sense of belonging. We want them to know they are not alone and that they are surrounded by people who are walking with them on the journey.

Moments like this help make that possible. This ministry is not just about programming. It is about family.

Grateful for the opportunity to walk alongside these men as they step into the life God has for them.

There is also a very full and special performance of one of the songs being prepared for the evening that we believe will leave the audience deeply impacted. It is something uniquely powerful that you will not want to miss.

There are opportunities for table sponsorships, business sponsorships, live auction donations, and bucket raffle items. To partner in any of these ways, please call 830-285-6385.

We would love for you to be in the room. This is going to be a beautiful and significant night.
