Very nice write up and tribute to Master Jamie Seabrook of Seabrook Martial Arts Academy Congrats sir!
In martial arts, there are instructors who simply teach techniques… and then there are instructors who truly teach understanding. People who can break movement down in a way that makes you not only see the technique, but understand the reason it works. To me, Jamie Seabrook is one of those individuals.
Over the years, I’ve spent a lot of time studying different martial arts systems, concepts, instructors, and approaches to combat. Through online teachings, interviews, and technical breakdowns, Jamie Seabrook became someone I found myself paying attention to more and more. Not because of flashy movement or hype, but because of the depth behind what he teaches.
One thing that immediately stood out to me was his ability to explain concepts thoroughly. Some instructors can perform at a high level but struggle to communicate their knowledge. Jamie has the rare ability to take complex ideas and present them in a way that both newer students and seasoned martial artists can understand. His breakdowns are detailed without becoming robotic, technical without losing practicality, and intelligent without becoming overly complicated.
I’ve also spoken with several friends and people within the Kenpo community who hold him in very high regard. Again and again, I hear the same things: respect for his knowledge, appreciation for his professionalism, and admiration for the way he teaches and represents the art. That consistency says a lot. Respect in martial arts is earned over time, and Jamie Seabrook has clearly earned his place within the Kenpo world.
What I appreciate most is that he represents something I personally value in martial arts: growth. The willingness to continue learning, continue evolving, and continue refining understanding rather than becoming trapped by ego or tradition for tradition’s sake. You can see in his teaching that he respects the roots of Kenpo while also understanding the importance of realism, adaptability, and functional movement.
As someone who has dedicated a lifetime to martial arts myself, I always appreciate instructors who make you think deeper about what you’re doing. Not just “how” something works, but why it works. Jamie Seabrook is one of those instructors.
The martial arts community needs more people who teach with clarity, humility, and passion for the art itself. From everything I’ve seen and heard, Jamie Seabrook represents those qualities well.
With respect in Kenpo,
