TAKE A VET FISHING NFP Take A Vet Fishing, NFP provides free, guided fishing experiences to U.S. The mission is simple, to show these men and women how much they mean to us.

military veterans as a way to promote healing, connection, and gratitude, known as "A Day of Giving Back." TAKE A VET FISHING was created to give back to those who serve our great nation every day. Our slogan is "A day of giving back" and that is the core of our mission. When our brave service men and women return from overseas, as a nation, we have been failing to show these heroes our appreciation. A shockingly high number of service members are returning with injuries and even the soldiers without physical wounds, are having a hard time adjusting back to the "real world". These "hero's" have given so much of themselves to defend our nation. Reaching out and offering a "thank you" with a hand shake, is the very least we should do. At Take a Vet Fishing, we take it a step further. Not only do we show these heroes our gratitude and shake their hand, we hand them a fishing rod!

Take A Vet Fishing and the Janesville Jets teamed up to bring an awesome night of honor to our military veterans and a great game of hockey to the fans at the Take A Vet Fishing Night in the Woodman’s Sport & Convention Center last Saturday! The night kicked off with a ceremonial puck drop by 100-year-old World War II veteran Frank Bua! It was truly and honor to recognize Frank and lovely his wife Judy. The event allowed Take A Vet Fishing to thank and honor our military veterans and create awareness for the needs of veterans as well as bring the mission of Take A Vet Fishing to all the Janesville Jets fans in attendance. The generosity of these fans will greatly impact our ability to continue that mission. Thank you all! The night was topped off with a 5-3 victory by the Jets!

A huge thank you to the Take A Vet Fishing team, volunteers, and Janesville Jets staff for making this fun event happen! Looking forward to next year! If you would like to donate to help Take A Vet Fishing continue its mission , please go to www.takeavetfishing.org or use the QR code below!

Take A Vet Fishing in Eagle River, WI for 2026 was again a wonderful event! All who participated enjoyed a summerlike day with clear skies and 80 degrees! After a tasty and filling breakfast provided by Chef Rene and his staff, and an honor ceremony filled with camaraderie and fellowship, the veterans and guides enjoyed a super day on the water. Windy conditions made the fishing a bit more challenging, but our amazing volunteer guides managed to put the veterans on fish. Among the many fish caught, veteran Norm caught his first ever muskie! Most importantly, the time together created new friendships and brought old friends back together.

Thank you to Chef Rene for the great food and VERY special thanks to Sonya for her hard work again preparing the venue for our gathering making our job much easier. The caring and hospitality shown by Rene and Sonya for veterans is and has always been inspiring and appreciated by all who participate. Thank you, Crystal of the Eagle River Inn, for your help making sure the veterans stay was smooth and comfortable. A huge thank you also goes out to Tom & Sara Zidek of Hooked N Tagged in Eagle River for the merch for veterans, Heidi Rieter-Kramsvogel of Incredible Bank-Eagle River for funding, Acme Tackle, Al Hutchison for again providing custom rods for the veterans, veterans Dan Janke and Bob Nickel for the custom nets, Zach Carlson for the tackle, Boat Sport Marine of Eagle River for again offering a pontoon boat, and all other donors for your generosity. An extra special thank you goes to the elementary school kids and staff of the Arbor Vitae-Woodruff School District for holding a wonderful fundraiser to help us honor and thank the veterans. Thank you all for another great “Day of Giving Back!”

🇺🇸 HONORING OUR HEROES — PRAYING FOR THEIR SAFE RETURN 🇺🇸

On September 25th, these brave men and women of the 145th Airlift Wing, North Carolina Air National Guard, out of Charlotte, NC, boarded buses and prepared to board a C-17 aircraft as they began their deployment.

For their families, it was a moment filled with pride, emotion, hugs, tears and prayers.

For these Soldiers and Airmen, it was another call to serve our country and protect the FREEDOMS that every one of us enjoys.

At Take A Vet Fishing, we ask everyone to join us in honoring these HEROES and praying for their safety throughout their deployment.

🙏 May God watch over them.
🙏 May He give strength and comfort to the families waiting at home.
🙏 And may He bring every one of them home safely to the people who love them.

To the men and women of the 145th Airlift Wing — THANK YOU for answering the call.

God bless you. God protect you. And God bless the United States of America. 🇺🇸

Until they all come home.

Today, we pause to remember September 11, 2001.

We remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost, the first responders and heroes who ran toward danger, and the families whose lives were changed forever.

We also remember the men and women who answered the call to serve in the years that followed. Thousands of Americans put on the uniform, leaving behind their families and risking everything to defend our freedom.

To our veterans, active-duty service members, first responders, and all who have sacrificed for our country - we remember, we honor, and we are forever grateful.

25 years later, we still remember.
May we never forget.
