TAKE A VET FISHING NFP

TAKE A VET FISHING NFP Take A Vet Fishing, NFP provides free, guided fishing experiences to U.S. The mission is simple, to show these men and women how much they mean to us.

military veterans as a way to promote healing, connection, and gratitude, known as "A Day of Giving Back." TAKE A VET FISHING was created to give back to those who serve our great nation every day. Our slogan is "A day of giving back" and that is the core of our mission. When our brave service men and women return from overseas, as a nation, we have been failing to show these heroes our appreciati

on. A shockingly high number of service members are returning with injuries and even the soldiers without physical wounds, are having a hard time adjusting back to the "real world". These "hero's" have given so much of themselves to defend our nation. Reaching out and offering a "thank you" with a hand shake, is the very least we should do. At Take a Vet Fishing, we take it a step further. Not only do we show these heroes our gratitude and shake their hand, we hand them a fishing rod!

Today, on Women's Veterans Day, we proudly stand alongside the generations of women who answered the call to serve.

Today, we celebrate the women who came before us, those who served beside us, and the next generation of women who continue to break barriers and lead with courage.

To our women veterans: thank you for your service, your sacrifices, and your unwavering commitment. Your stories matter. Your contributions matter. And our legacy continues.

Happy Women's Veterans Day! 🇺🇸

Take A Vet Fishing was the beneficiary again this year of the proceeds from the 4th Annual Rock County Catfish Tournament! Local catfishers fished from 9:00AM on 6/6 to 9:00AM on 6/7 in pursuit of the largest catch of three in the flathead and channel cat categories. Congratulations Ty Gustina for catching the largest flathead, weighing in at 37.06 pounds!

These dedicated and generous catfishers raised over $2000 which was donated to Take A Vet Fishing! Special thanks for Derek Wells for spearheading this event again this year and to all those who helped as well as the donors and sponsors that made this another successful event and helping veterans and TAVF.

Looking forward to next year!

Eighty-two years ago today, the fate of the free world turned on the courage of ordinary men asked to do the extraordinary.

On June 6, 1944, more than 156,000 Allied soldiers crossed the English Channel and stormed the beaches of Normandy - many knowing they might never return. They came not for glory, but for something far greater: the liberation of a continent crushed under tyranny. D-Day was not simply a military operation - it was the moment the tide of history changed, purchased at an almost incomprehensible cost in blood and sacrifice. As we mark the 82nd anniversary, we don’t simply remember a battle. We remember the men behind it - their fear, their faith, and their extraordinary willingness to give everything so that others could live free. That debt does not expire with time. It only deepens.

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor the heroes who never made it home.
At Take a Vet Fishing, we have the privilege of spending time beside veterans, active-duty military members, Gold Star families, and those carrying invisible wounds that most people never see. Through those conversations, we are constantly reminded that freedom comes at a cost far greater than words can express.
Today is not simply about cookouts, a day off, or the unofficial start of summer.
Today is about remembrance.
It is about the young men and women who raised their right hand and gave everything for this country. It is about the families who continue living with an empty chair at the dinner table. It is about brothers and sisters in arms carrying memories that never leave them. And it is about making sure the sacrifice of our fallen heroes is never forgotten.
When we launch a boat before sunrise or watch veterans find peace on the water, we are reminded that healing and freedom were both made possible because someone was willing to sacrifice everything for others.
To all Gold Star families — we stand with you today and everyday. To those mourning brothers and sisters lost in service — we honor them with you.And to the fallen heroes of the United States Armed Forces — thank you. Your courage, sacrifice, and legacy will live on forever.
May we never forget what Memorial Day truly means.

Only In Wisconsin Giving, the charitable arm of New Glarus Brewing in New Glarus WI, granted TAVF a generous donation again this year! The grant was used to purchase a trailer to transport supplies, (2) portable AED Difibulator units to keep our veterans and families safe at TAVF events, a portable PA system, and (2) portable Hot Spots to help at events where internet is sketchy. Special thanks to Jason Rufer and the Only in WI Giving team for your continued support for veterans, TAVF, and all other great causes! Take the nice drive to New Glarus WI to visit New Glarus Brewing and enjoy one of their fine beers, a nice tour to learn the history and process, and the New Glarus Brewing Store! Take a stroll through pretty New Glarus and see all that this city has to offer.
