Building Our Future’s Smart Beginnings Network is leading a Kenosha County Child Care Needs Survey to better understand families’ experiences with child care, including availability, affordability, and access.

It takes more than good intentions. It takes aligned leadership, shared accountability, and partners working together across sectors.

Join Building Our Future for BOF 101 on November 10, our final session of 2026. This one-hour virtual session offers a behind-the-scenes look at how our place-based partnership brings education, workforce, nonprofit, and civic leaders together to advance shared outcomes for young people.

We’ll explore how cross-sector partnerships move from conversation to coordinated action, the structures that support accountability, and how leaders can contribute to collective impact across our community.

It takes a region working together to expand opportunities for our students.

Thank you to Kenosha County Government and County Executive Samantha Kerkman for recognizing the 4th Annual Regional FAFSA Summit and the collaborative work happening across Kenosha and Racine counties.

Through our partnership with Higher Expectations for Racine County and the many schools, colleges, community organizations, and supporters involved, we’re working to make the path to postsecondary education clearer and more accessible for students and families.

When we align our efforts around shared goals, we can help more students take the next step toward their future.

Congratulations to Kenosha Bradford High School for achieving the highest FAFSA completion percentage in Southeastern Wisconsin and to KUSD for earning the 2026 FAFSA GOAT Award for highest district completion!

FAFSA completion is about more than filling out a form. It helps open doors to financial aid and makes college, technical college, and other postsecondary pathways more accessible for our students.

We’re proud to work alongside KUSD and so many community partners to keep building a stronger college-going culture across Kenosha County. Let’s keep the momentum going! 🏆

We’re excited to partner with the Kenosha YMCA and Gateway Technical College to help more students and families take the next step toward education after high school! 🎓

FAFSA can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to figure it out alone. Join us October 20 for FREE, hands-on support completing the FAFSA. Computers will be available, and knowledgeable staff will be there to answer your questions and walk you through the process.

Open to students and families from Kenosha and Racine. Please help us spread the word!

📚 As National Literacy Month comes to a close, the work continues.

In September, our Reading Resource Hub received 493 views, helping make local literacy programs, book access opportunities and resources more accessible to parents and caregivers.

Through our Early Grade Reading Work Team, Building Our Future brings community partners together around a shared vision: All students complete third grade reading at grade level.

Connecting families with resources is one way we’re working together to strengthen early literacy opportunities across Kenosha County.
