I wish you could have seen her smile. 😃

A family update from May came alive when I was in Ethiopia in July…..I watched Tigist read a paragraph in our literacy class. A woman who once couldn’t read or write in her own language was now reading and she was so proud with a big smile on her face.

Later that week, I sat in her home and watched her weigh, package, and prepare spices from the business she started.

That same smile kept appearing. That smile was filled with pride, filled with empowerment, filled with accomplishment, and it was an honor for me to witness that.

This is what transformation looks like. These smiles are changing generations. ❤️

Alemnesh was lonely and afraid when she first walked through our doors. Today, she says, “I am changed.”

She found women who pray for her, encourage her, and remind her that she is seen, loved, and not alone.

Friends and Crazy Ideas ❤️

Next to Luke 5:19 in my Bible, I have written: “friends and crazy ideas.” This story reminds us of the power of community. When I was in Ethiopia a couple of weeks ago, I saw this come to life through Ife and Mulu, graduates of our Family Empowerment Program, who now carry a corner of each other’s mat encouraging, supporting, and reminding each other of God’s faithfulness. Look at these beautiful smiles and friendship!
