After the standard nine Scottish Highland Games events on Saturday, we had an extra “10th event” that was optional. It was a Husafell Stone carry. It weighed approximately 240 pounds for the men and approximately 140 pounds for the women and junior competitors. This was a hard challenge, asking them to carry it as far as possible! Here’s some photos of our amazing competitors! You can watch the Facebook live video of the entire event on the Scottish Club of Tulsa page at: https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1E6HiTrbXq/?mibextid=wwXIfr

You came. You saw. You shopped. You talked to new friends. You ate. You sweated. You lifted heavy things.

And for all this, we are grateful. ❤️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Here's Jen looking beautiful at the Battle on 66 standing at the Scottish Club of Tulsa booth.

Jen had a pretty special moment today.

She found out that her maiden name, Sands, has its own tartan — which suddenly made a piece of her family history feel a whole lot more real.

Her ancestors were driven from the Scottish Highlands and eventually ended up in Ireland. Generations later, there she was today, standing in front of a Scottish tartan wearing a piece of that heritage herself.

Sometimes you go to a Highland Games expecting caber tossing, bagpipes and a husband making questionable decisions involving haggis… and you end up finding a little piece of your own story.

Pretty darn cool.

The athletes have taken the field. (And the arena!) Plenty of time to come on out and watch them, enjoy Scottish meat pies and more from the concession stand, visit our vendors, and have a fun family day!

It’s a beautiful day for a Scottish festival! ❤️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🎉

We have a special “10th event” tomorrow. It will be open to the public so it’s a great time to come out and show off how strong you are!

The sun'll come out tomorrow...AND we'll be soaking it up on Route 66! Hope you'll be there with us! Plenty of air conditioned space to take a break and enjoy some concessions when you need to cool down!
