Dreamwave Advocates Movement Alliance of West Virginia Eastern Panhandle Deaf Alliances, Inc. EPDA offers a referral service, provides Deaf advocacy, communication support, and will eventually offer case management.

DREAMWAVE (formerly Eastern Panhandle Deaf Alliance) is a non-profit organization launched on June 1, 2017, dedicated to providing essential services for Deaf, DeafBlind, Deaf Plus, Hard of Hearing, and Disabled individuals in WV. (EPDA) is a non-profit organization launched on June 1, 2017, dedicated to providing essential services and support to individuals who are Deaf, DeafBlind (DB), and Hard

of Hearing (HOH) in the Eastern Panhandle region. Our mission is to build strong relationships within these communities while promoting accessibility and inclusion across West Virginia. Additionally, we focus on raising Deaf awareness in the community through workshops and training for local businesses, emergency services, and healthcare providers to ensure effective communication and equal access. Our goal is to improve the quality of life for Deaf, DB/HOH individuals and that their voices are heard, their needs are met, and they are empowered to advocate for their rights.

NCD announces Request For Information (RFI) on disability emergency management toolkit

The National Council on Disability (NCD) is requesting information supporting the creation of a state, local, territory and tribal (SLTT) emergency management toolkit.

The toolkit will provide promising practices and guidance on how to create an emergency management plan inclusive of people with disabilities and update the federal agency’s 2009 report, Effective Emergency Management: Making Improvements for Communities and People with Disabilities.
