𝐁𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐮𝐚𝐥 (𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐡/𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐡) 𝐓𝐮𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐨𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫

Kearney Literacy Council is urgently seeking a Tutor Coordinator for its English language tutoring program for adult learners. This is a paid volunteer position of 25 hours per month, at a pay rate of $15 per hour. The position begins on November 1, 2026.

Tutor Coordinator duties include:

• Serving as the point of contact for adult learners and volunteer tutors in the program (email and phone/text) and managing program files and information

• Scheduling and administering monthly English proficiency exams (resources provided) to determine the proficiency levels of new students

• Matching new students with volunteer tutors based on schedule and facilitating their introductory meeting

• Ordering new teaching and learning materials for the tutoring program

• Promoting the tutoring program and recruiting new tutors in collaboration with the Kearney Literacy Council board and other community organizations

• Attending monthly board meetings of Kearney Literacy Council and providing a brief verbal and written report of the month’s activities

Applicants must:

• Have strong organizational skills and be responsive in communicating with adult students and volunteer tutors in the program

• Be proficient in English (verbal and written) and have at least an intermediate level of proficiency in Spanish to assist in communicating with new students

• Be available to meet in person at Kearney Public Library, sometimes during daytime hours and sometimes during early evening hours, to facilitate or attend meetings
