KSD Education Foundation

KSD Education Foundation The KSD Education Foundation (KSDEF) exists to enhance and support the educational experience of every KSD student.

We are a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that partners with our community to enrich education in the Kearney School District—creating opportunities that inspire students, support teachers, and strengthen schools. We partner with the community to provide resources that empower teachers, fund innovative classroom projects, and expand opportunities for students beyond what traditional school budgets

can provide. Through scholarships, classroom innovation grants, and community-driven programs, KSDEF helps ensure that every student has the tools and encouragement they need to learn, grow, and thrive. From early childhood through high school graduation, our work is focused on investing in the future of Kearney—one student at a time. We couldn’t do this without the generous support of our donors, business partners, and volunteers. Together, we’re building a stronger community by supporting education and opening doors for the next generation. Whether you choose to give, volunteer, or spread the word, you are helping us make a lasting difference.

The future looks bright, and it's wearing college colors.

There is something special about seeing students stand on the edge of their next chapter. Years of studying, late nights, early mornings, activities, challenges, growth, and determination have led to this moment. As they prepare to leave Kearney and begin their college journeys, these four students carry with them not only their accomplishments, but also the support of a community that believes in them.

Rubi Canales will attend Park University to pursue a degree in Elementary Education. She shared that receiving this scholarship reinforced something she has learned through experience—that hard work truly does pay off. She plans to use the funds to help earn her degree and prepare for a future in the classroom.

Emelyn Kane is headed to the University of Missouri. For Emelyn, receiving this scholarship was a meaningful recognition of the hard work and perseverance that helped her reach this milestone. She plans to use the funds toward textbooks and coursework as she begins this exciting new chapter.

Abigail McQuillen is headed to Cedarville University with plans to pursue a career in medicine. She shared that this scholarship will help ease the financial burden of college and medical school, allowing her to continue pursuing a future dedicated to helping others.

Addison Taylor will attend the University of Missouri as she works toward becoming a dietitian. This scholarship will help reduce the financial stress of college expenses, allowing her to focus on her education and future career serving others through health and nutrition.

Behind every scholarship is a student with a dream, a goal, and countless hours of hard work. We are proud to support Rubi, Emelyn, Abigail, and Addison as they take the next step toward their futures.

Some partnerships truly make a difference in our community, and Kearney Trust Company is one of them. 💜

We are so grateful for Kearney Trust’s continued support as a Platinum Sponsor of the KSD Education Foundation. As a longtime local bank with the spirit of “Our Town. Your Bank.”, they continue to show what it means to invest right back into the community they serve.

Their support helps fund classroom grants for educators, provides scholarships for graduating seniors, and brings innovative hands-on learning experiences directly into Kearney classrooms.

We deeply appreciate partners like Kearney Trust who don’t just serve our community, but are truly part of it. Thank you for walking alongside us and making a lasting impact!

Last day of school!

Bulldogs are officially out of the classroom and on beach time (well… at least in spirit 😄). Goodbye homework, hello sunshine, snacks, and sleeping in.

Have the best summer, Kearney!

Today, we celebrate the Class of 2026. 🎓

This is the moment where everything comes together. The late nights, early mornings, challenges overcome, lessons learned, and growth that can’t always be measured in grades or awards.

As you turn your tassel, you’re not just marking the end of high school; you’re stepping into everything you’re becoming. And while this chapter closes today, your story is just getting started.

Take pride in how far you’ve come. Take courage in what lies ahead. And take with you the support of a community that will always be rooting for you.

Congratulations, graduates!

Today marks the final day of school for the Class of 2026.

Before the caps fly this weekend, take a moment to soak this one in. The last walk through the halls. The last bell. The last ordinary school day with the classmates, teachers, and memories that helped shape your story.

You’ve grown through challenges, celebrated victories, learned lessons far beyond textbooks, and become leaders in ways you may not even realize yet.

The future ahead is full of possibility, and this community is cheering you on every step of the way.

Finish strong, seniors. The future is waiting.

On Monday night, we celebrated something really special at the Future Teachers' Signing Day for the Grow Your Own program, an initiative funded by the KSD Education Foundation.

Eight incredible students took the next step toward becoming educators, with the goal of coming back to teach in Kearney schools:
⭐ Emmy Dibben
⭐ Macy Gacke
⭐ Kate Landewee
⭐ Sami Marlott
⭐ Kambri Morris
⭐ Gracie Parks
⭐ Ella Reagan-Lusby
⭐ VaNessa Smith

This is what investing in our community looks like. Through the Education Internship program, these students are already gaining real experience in our schools. Several have signed up to substitute, and one has already been hired as a paraprofessional, making an impact right now.

The KSD Education Foundation was also proud to support this next generation of teachers by awarding three $1,000 scholarships to:
⭐ Gracie Parks
⭐ Samantha Marlott
⭐ Ella Reagan-Lusby

We can’t wait to welcome these future educators back into our classrooms. The future of Kearney schools is bright because of you.

Special thanks to Mendy Salmonson for her leadership of the Grow Your Own program! Her work is building the future of education in Kearney.
