Brief summary of my ride so far. Rode 10 days and traveled about 600 miles. In Hazard KY tonight. Temperature has been good. Meet many friendly and interesting people. After we talk a bit, I give them a pay It forward card. We try to stay at church hostels and warm showers, which both host fellow cyclist at no charge. Country sides are green and lush. See a chapel about ever 3 to five miles.
Appalachian mountains can be challenging to climb at times since some climbs are over 10% grade. We have met six other cyclist traveling the transamerica route. One cyclist name Seth True, has been cycling the country for 21 month's. The route was established in 1976 and was orginally called the bicentennial trail. They have signs on the trail with the number 76 and a picture of a bicycle. I use ride with GPS app with digital maps loaded. Works like Google maps
