Beginning this Kēkēmapa (December), KAHA will be offering our 2027 calendars, featuring beautiful images, ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi, and moments that celebrate Hawaiʻi, our culture, and our community.

Every purchase is more than a makana. It is an investment in the work we do.

Proceeds from each calendar will support KAHA’s programmatic work, helping us expand opportunities for cultural learning, strengthen pilina, support kumu and practitioners, and advance ʻike Hawaiʻi for generations to come.

Mahalo piha to HI Now for recently highlighting the work of Ka ‘Aha Ho’olauna Aloha, and helping us share our mission with a broader community.

As we look ahead to 2027, we are preparing for what will be a banner year for our organization, one centered on learning, connection, cultural perpetuation, and the next generation.

Next year, KAHA will launch our Scholarship, expanding opportunities for young people to deepen their connection to ʻike Hawaiʻi. We will also host our first Huakaʻi, or cultural journey, to the beautiful island of Hawaiʻi, creating space to learn from the ʻāina, practitioners, and communities who carry ʻike forward.

And in Las Vegas, we will welcome our community for another historic first: KAHA’s inaugural Keiki Hula Competition, celebrating our keiki, our kumu, and the traditions that continue to thrive across Hawaiʻi and the continent.

E ola ka ʻike Hawaiʻi. E ola ka lāhui. May Hawaiian knowledge live. May the Hawaiian people thrive.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who continues to believe in this work and walk alongside us. I mua kākou. Together, we move forward.

A Message from our Founder:

Aloha nui kākou e ka ʻohana KAHĀ,

Mahalo Ke Akua!

As we look toward 2027, my heart is filled with gratitude for all that we have built together and excitement for all that is still to come.

Our theme for the year is E Hawaiʻi Nui Kuauli, Great Hawaiʻi of the Verdant Lands.

Throughout 2027, KAHĀ will celebrate the ʻike, moʻolelo, traditions, people, and places of Hawaiʻi Island, honoring the knowledge carried forward through generations while creating new opportunities for our communities to learn, gather, strengthen pilina, and keep ʻike Hawaiʻi living across ka ʻāina and throughout the diaspora.

🌺 February: We launch the ʻIke Akamai Scholarship, helping remove financial barriers for individuals and ʻohana seeking deeper cultural learning.

🌿 March: We introduce our fifth ʻUmeke, Mālama ʻĀina, with a new Huakaʻi Program on Hawaiʻi Island, grounding our learning in ʻāina, place, stewardship, and connection.

🌺 June: We gather in Las Vegas for our fifth annual KAHĀ Conference, where we will also launch our first KAHĀ Keiki Hula Competition, creating a new space to uplift our keiki and perpetuate hula for generations to come.

And these are only the first announcements of what lies ahead.

Mahalo nui for walking with us, believing in this work, and helping us strengthen the bridge between ka ʻāina and our communities throughout the world.

Ka ʻAha Hoʻolauna Aloha (KAHĀ), with the generous support of Kamehameha Schools, invites our kaiāulu (Community) to a special day of aʻo, launa, pilina, and aloha through hands-on learning and the practice of leisure sewing.

Together, we will explore a little more deeply who we are as kanaka and how meaningful relationships are built, strengthened, and cared for.

ONIPA'A!

September is Hawaiian History Month, a time to honor the stories, ʻike, values, and legacy of those who came before us.

This month also holds special meaning as we remember Queen Liliʻuokalani, born September 2, 1838.

Her life and leadership continue to remind us of aloha for our people, devotion to Hawaiʻi, the power of mele, and the importance of remaining ʻOnipaʻa, steadfast in who we are and what we carry forward.

For KAHĀ Founder Kuʻualohanui Kauliʻa, Hawaiian History Month is not only about remembering the past. It is about recognizing our kuleana to learn, share, and ensure that the ʻike of our kūpuna continues into the generations ahead.

Whether we live in Hawaiʻi, across Maleka, or elsewhere in the world, distance does not have to mean disconnection. Through pilina, learning, cultural practice, and aloha, we can continue strengthening our relationship to Hawaiʻi and to one another.

At KAHĀ, this is at the heart of our mission: Advancing Hawaiian Cultural Knowledge Through Aloha and Collaboration.

This Hawaiian History Month, may we learn something new, listen deeply, share generously, and carry forward what has been entrusted to us.

KAHĀ is seeking cultural practitioners, educators, kūpuna, professionals, community leaders, emerging leaders, and others who are willing to share their ʻike, ʻike kūpuna, ʻoihana, pilina, and lived experience in service to our community and future generations.

Our Advisory Council brings together a diverse hui of trusted voices who provide cultural wisdom, professional expertise, historical perspective, strategic counsel, and community insight to support KAHĀ’s Board of Directors and Executive Leadership Council.

This is an opportunity to share your ʻike and strengthen the pilina that help KAHĀ grow while remaining firmly rooted in Native Hawaiian leadership, values, and cultural knowledge.

Advisors may help KAHĀ:
