Anyone interested in leading blood 🩸 drive at IBEW 124? Community Blood Center keeps donations in town for our brothers & sisters.

Message:
Community Blood Center (CBC) has declared blood emergency today, on Monday, July 13 after the regional blood supply fell to its lowest level since the COVID-19 pandemic.

Kansas City joins blood centers across the country experiencing critically low inventories. Summer travel, extreme heat, and changing routines accelerated the decline, while our region continues to face a long-term loss of regular blood donors – down by more than 20% in recent years.

We're working hard to rebuild our donor community, and blood drive partners like you play a vital role in that effort.

Here’s how you can help:
Add a blood drive. Our team will work with you to identify the best date and location.
Donate personally, if eligible, and encourage colleagues, friends, and family to join you.
Spread the word through email, newsletters, or internal communications.

Every blood drive helps ensure blood is available for cancer patients, trauma victims, surgical patients, mothers and newborns, and others who rely on lifesaving transfusions.

Thank you for your continued partnership and for helping strengthen our community's blood supply.

“Know Your August 4th Ballot" workshop on Tuesday, July 14 from 6 to 8 p.m. a virtual training broadcast live from Eastern Jackson County that will equip your members with real skills to cut through misinformation and talk plainly about what's at stake in their breakrooms, churches, and kitchens.

Hello IBEW 124 members,

IBEW 124, Retirees and Women's Committee invite you to WomenHeart Trivia Night, Saturday, June 27 at 5pm. It will be at The Armacost Museum, not open to the public and only viewed by attending such galas and fundraisers. If you are or know a classic car fan, this is a must. BYOB & food at your table. Must be 16 or older to attend.

Tour the museum and bid on the silent auction starting at 5 pm. And think of your team's name for Trivia starting at 6:30 pm.

Women are dramatically underrepresented in high-paying apprenticeship fields like construction—and thus face a much lower pay-off than men.

In 2026, men completing an apprenticeship made an average of more than $35/hour. Women? Just $23.

Union apprenticeships, other than IBEW, may not have a process to eliminate bias and make sure apprentices get fair hours. This reduces yearly earnings and less hours to advance through their apprenticeship. The same treatment of not being "picked" can continue through journeyman advancement and equal opportunity.
