Local Business Appreciation: Callender Printing

A big thank-you to Dan and the team for their responsiveness, flexibility, and willingness to work with us and our partner organizations. Whether we need a quick turnaround, help figuring out the right solution, or quality printing for an upcoming project, they consistently show up ready to help. We know they have a lot on their plates, especially during campaign season, and we truly appreciate the care they put into their work.

Recently, Dan took some time to walk us through Callendar Printing’s history, sharing the craftsmanship behind their work, their high-quality equipment, and even some of their older machines and original die cuts. It was a great reminder of the experience, knowledge, and local history that go into a business like theirs.

We’re thankful for businesses that do more than provide a service — they make an effort to support the organizations and people working to strengthen our community.

Thank you, Dan and Callendar Printing, for being such a valued local partner. We love having you in our corner! 🙌

There’s a lot of good happening in Kansas City, Kansas. And we believe there’s even more possible when we come together.

Our communities are full of people with ideas, experience, passion, and a shared desire to see our neighborhoods thrive. But too often, the people doing the work don’t have enough opportunities to connect, learn from one another, or see how their efforts fit into the bigger picture.

That’s our WHY.

The 2026 Community, Unity, Leadership Summit is about bringing people together to see the work happening, share perspectives, and build connections that can turn into something more. Because stronger communities don’t happen in isolation. They grow when we know one another, find common ground, work across differences, and recognize that we all have a role to play in shaping what comes next.

No matter your background, your experience, or where you are in your journey, there’s a place for you in this conversation.

What a week of learning, connecting, and spending time with people working to shape the future of our neighborhoods and cities across the KC metro.

On Tuesday, we joined the Urban Institute for a workshop focused on turning housing and homeownership data into local action. The last two days LISC Greater Kansas City's Heartland Developer Summit as a speaker, participant, and learner — and it was great to see so many familiar faces in the room!

Across both gatherings, we heard many of the same challenges we see in our Eastside communities: housing affordability, access to homeownership, neighborhood investment, and the need to get resources where they’re needed most. These aren’t challenges any one organization or community can solve alone. They call for shared learning, creative strategies, stronger partnerships, and a willingness to work across the region to find solutions that reach the neighborhoods too often left out.

We’re grateful to Health Forward Foundation, Hispanic Chamber, Heartland Black Chamber Of Commerce, and the many partners creating spaces for these conversations and helping build the relationships and resources to turn ideas into action.

There’s something strengthening about being in community with people who understand the challenges and are committed to working through them together.

Stronger communities take all of us. And that work starts with connection. 💛

There’s a lot of good happening in Eastern Wyandotte County—and we’re bringing people together to see it, celebrate it, and connect around what’s next. 🙌

Our Community Unity Leadership Summit is a chance to step back from our individual organizations, projects, and neighborhoods and see the bigger picture: the people, partnerships, ideas, and leadership shaping our communities.

We’re centering the day around three things:

🫂 COMMUNITY: The people and work strengthening our neighborhoods and expanding opportunity.

🤝 UNITY: The partnerships and collaborations connecting people, ideas, and resources.

🌱 LEADERSHIP: The residents, entrepreneurs, organizations, and civic leaders helping shape what comes next.

Our goal is simple help make the people and the work happening across our community more visible and create new connections that can grow beyond one morning.

We’re bringing together an incredible mix of local voices, organizations, community leaders, entrepreneurs, and emerging leaders—and we can’t wait to introduce you to them.

A beautiful evening celebrating the legacy of so many incredible leaders in our community. 💙

It was great to gather with so many friends, partners, and community champions at the NAACP Kansas City Kansas Branch banquet on Saturday and honor the work that continues to move our community forward.

Even better to have our friends from Quindaro Community Center there with us.

We’re grateful for the young people who are already helping carry this work into the future. ✨

Here’s to honoring the legacy, celebrating the present, and investing in what’s next.
