Hi friends! I’ve renamed this page M Friends KC. It’s a small, volunteer‑run space where we'll occasionally share local events and resources for deaf and disabled kids and their families in the KC area - nothing formal, just helpful things when they pop up. 💛

First up: Sensory‑Friendly Adaptive Skate at Independence Community Ice ⛸️. It’s a free, low‑sensory skate (lights on, no music, smaller crowd) for kids with disabilities and their families. Walkers and on‑ice sleds are available, and wheelchair users are encouraged to use the sleds. Check the flyer for dates and the registration link. 📅

I’ve missed you all during my little break—I’ve been busy moving to a new place and making wonderful memories traveling this summer. Here’s a family shot from our latest adventure! ✈️😄.

Today I attended a deaf event in Overland Park hosted by . I remember attending for the first time a couple years ago shortly after finding out Mila is deaf. Holy moly, what a difference 2 years can make. I saw familiar faces, had meaningful discussions with other parents, and met new mom friends. And I had the pleasure of bringing a new mom friend with me that I met at our last event. I’m so inspired by everyone and just feel grateful that I have found this community. I am awful at remembering to take pictures but I promise I will get better! 🤣🤟🏼

🚨 Urgent: Missouri's Involvement in Texas v. Becerra Lawsuit 🚨

Missouri is part of a lawsuit that could potentially end accommodations for all disabled people under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. This is not an exaggeration - I've consulted with a trusted lawyer who confirmed the gravity of this situation.

I've already contacted the Attorney General's office through their website and sent a detailed email. Here's an example of what you can say:

"As a concerned Lee's Summit resident, I'm alarmed by Missouri's involvement in Texas v. Becerra. Did our state intend to end accommodations for disabled people by potentially eliminating Section 504?

This would devastate individuals with disabilities, including my deaf 2.5-year-old daughter, who relies on vital medical and educational accommodations. I urge you to withdraw from the lawsuit.

Can we meet before February 24?"
