WyCo Violence Prevention Coalition

WyCo Violence Prevention Coalition We are focused on addressing the causes of violence and stopping its occurrence before it happens.

Engaging community members, organizations and local government to advance community health, prevent violence, and reduce harm through a community-based coalition! The Wyandotte County Sexual Assault Prevention Coalition is a MOCSA-sponsored, community-based coalition that works to prevent sexual assault and abuse in Kansas City, Kansas. Many of the factors that contribute to sexual violence also c

ontribute to other forms of violence. Problems like lack of connection among neighbors, exposure to violence in one’s home or community, and acceptance of violence as “normal” create a climate where many types of violence – including youth violence, child abuse, domestic violence, and sexual assault – are more likely to happen. By the same token, public policies, community efforts, and individual actions that foster relationships among neighborhoods, build community connections, and change perceptions can reduce all forms of violence.

Teens aren’t the only ones who need to change. Adults do too.
Our team had the privilege of helping launch this billboard campaign in KCK with , challenging adults to take real responsibility for the culture of violence our youth are growing up in.

This isn't about “bad kids.” It’s about the world we’re modeling for them—what we normalize, excuse, or ignore. This billboard calls it out, right in the heart of the community.
