As a United Methodist Minister and a person who struggled with depression, Susan Schroeder started Mental Health Ministries with a vision of producing high quality resources to reduce the stigma of mental illness in our faith communities. Our mission is to help faith communities be caring congregations for people living with a mental illness and those who love and care for them based on the “Carin

g Congregations” five step model of education, commitment, welcome, support, and advocacy. Mental Health Ministries has created a wide variety of user friendly resources with many of the print resources available in Spanish. This website also has training curriculums and other resources developed by denominations and national groups working in the area of spirituality/faith and mental illness. Our resources include Devotions, Prayers and Quotations. You are encouraged to sign up to receive our periodic Spotlight newsletter that provides timely information and links to resources addressing spirituality and mental illness. We encourage you to share what you are doing by emailing us at [email protected]. We can learn from each other as we work together to erase the stigma of mental illness in our faith communities.
