Every day, we meet neighbors facing a variety of barriers that make stable housing, food security, and gainful employment difficult to maintain.

When one of those barriers is mobility, the situation can become a lot more complicated.

Our programs and partners are working hard to change that.

We’re thrilled to introduce our 2026 Murray Davis Scholars: Brianne & Jonathan!

Established in ‘24, the Murray Davis Scholarship provides service-driven high school graduates with funds towards their college education.

Serving their communities has been a vital piece of each of these selfless seniors’ lives.

“Volunteering is a powerful reminder that seemingly small acts of service can leave a lasting, transformative impact on others and myself,” shared Brianne.

“Each experience helping others has motivated me to continue making these positive impacts wherever I can,” echoed Jonathan.

Congratulations, Brianne & Jonathan! We can’t wait to see the difference you’ll make in the community.

We're kicking off our 27th summer of life-saving relief from KC's summer heat next week - and you can help make it possible!

Project ElderCool provides & installs AC units to seniors and medically-compromised neighbors in need, totally free of charge. The program also helps with unit repairs and utility bills, helping keep homes livable for those who are especially vulnerable to the season's threats.

Today is , and this year, it's all about celebrating "the hands that plant seeds, lift others up, learn new skills, build solutions, share knowledge, raise voices and open new futures."

When you support our programs, your hands are doing just that. Thank you for helping us fight food insecurity in our community!

For 17 years, Shilo Foster has served the Kansas City community with focus, patience, and dignity.

Today, we’re sharing a bittersweet farewell and a whole-hearted “thank you” for the impact she has made in the lives of thousands of neighbors in need - and on our programs as a whole.

In reflecting on the past 17 years, Shilo shared a few of the moments that have shaped her the most:
- Partnering with other local agencies to research and secure a specialized bed for a child with high needs,
- Providing a family at Children’s Mercy with specialized formula for their child battling cancer which allowed them to bring their child home, and
- Meeting with a woman she had worked with for years to give her the keys to an apartment after she'd been street homeless for a long time.

We’re confident these families and so many more will remember how her kindness has shaped their lives, too.

“Bishop Sullivan Center is and will remain a special place in my heart,” she shared. “I will continue to advocate for the work BSC does and the people they serve.”

Thank you, Shilo, for nearly two decades of selfless service! We wish you the best of luck in the journey ahead.

For the parents of high school seniors, spring is all about the exciting firsts and emotional lasts of preparing for life’s next chapter.

But for Veronika* and her 18-year-old daughter Phoebe*, the emotions and logistics of Phoebe’s senior spring are a lot more complicated.

Phoebe is battling brain cancer, missing out on school and prom and starting to lose her long, brown hair. The resilient teen’s future plans are on hold, but through it all, she’s managed to maintain straight A’s.

Her mother Veronika hasn’t been able to work as attending doctors appointments with Phoebe five days a week has become a full-time job, and the family has fallen significantly behind on rent.

Your support has helped get the family caught up, ensuring safe housing is one constant they can rely on. Their landlord is working with them, committed to making space for their difficult situation.

Some of our neighbors are carrying heavy burdens. Thank you for your commitment to lightening their load.
