Recently we hosted our very first Learn to Hunt Turkey Camp — and it proved to be a great learning experience chasing what is arguably America’s best game bird!
Over the course of the weekend, participants learned the fundamentals of turkey hunting, including gear and equipment, scouting and recognizing turkey sign, ethical hunting practices, firearm safety, and how to properly process a harvest. They also spent time on the range patterning shotguns and building confidence behind the trigger.
Most importantly, each participant was paired with an experienced female mentor who guided and encouraged them throughout the hunt. These mentorship opportunities are invaluable in helping new hunters feel welcomed, supported, and prepared to continue their outdoor journey.
While the turkeys managed to stay one step ahead this time, the weekend was still a tremendous success. Every participant walked away with new skills, greater confidence, and a deeper appreciation for conservation, ethical hunting, and the outdoors.
Programs like this are about more than harvesting game — they are about preserving traditions, building community, and creating the next generation of ethical hunters and conservationists. We are proud of everyone who participated and so very grateful to the mentors who made this camp possible!
