Her credit score climbed more than 100 points ๐Ÿคฉ

Our Executive Director, LaTasha Jacobs, sat down with her daughter to talk about something a lot of young adults donโ€™t learn about until itโ€™s too lateโ€ฆ

CREDIT.

For her 18th birthday, LaTasha helped her daughter establish credit by adding her as an authorized user.

But getting the credit was only the beginning.

The real lesson was knowing how to use it responsibly.

Her daughter shares how she treated her credit card more like a debit card, kept track of her paydays and made sure she was paying it off strategically.

This is why financial education matters and why starting these conversations early can make such a difference.

This is Part 1 of our mother-daughter credit conversation. Stay tuned for Part 2.

What would you do with $10,000? ๐Ÿ‘€

That's the challenge our students at Operation Breakthrough are tackling this week as they put their financial knowledge into action through a real-world learning project.

They're researching different career paths and the true cost of pursuing them, surveying their peers, building budgets, exploring entrepreneurship, creating life plans and strengthening the soft skills they'll need to SUCCEED.

We also had the pleasure of welcoming Chris Goode of Ruby Jeans Juicery and Alan Kneeland of The Combine to share their entrepreneurship journeys and give students a real-world look at what it takes to build something of your own ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿพ

The students put it all together through 6 presentations, which were evaluated by the Pathway Financial Education team, our summer intern and our special guests.

And yesโ€ฆ there were prizes!

๐ŸŒŸ Top-ranked students received a $50 DoorDash gift card

๐ŸŒŸ Other students received $20 gift cards from The Combine or Ruby Jeans Juicery

We're so proud of these students for participating and learning how to make informed financial decisions to secure their future ๐Ÿ’™

We wrapped up our time with the ProX Summer Internship Program, and wanted to take a moment to look back on the amazing opportunity we had to connect with so many talented young people preparing for their futures.

Through our Professional Development Days, students explored topics like personal finance, banking, credit, budgeting, and planning for life after high school.

A huge thank you to the ProX team for collaborating with us and to UMB Bank for helping us make financial education accessible for the next generation.

To every student who participated: keep asking questions and remember that the financial decisions you make today can shape the opportunities you have tomorrow.

We can't wait to see all that you'll accomplish! ๐Ÿ‘
