These young men received the highest honor they could have received in their first tournament this last weekend. Their opponents all told them they worked hard, fought to the end, and called them DOGS.
Scoreboards can say we lost all they want, but look at these faces and tell us that. I asked these young men the only question I could think of after the tournament ended: Are YOU proud of you? All smiles, all affirmatives from them. The intrinsic matters more than the extrinsic but the extrinsic is nice to here too, so I told them I'm proud of them too and I love them.
That joy, the pride, the self-esteem from the growth they showed over those three days are bigger wins than any scoreboard could ever show.
