If you talk to anyone at Pete's Garden you will hear us say that we recover high quality, surplus prepared food.

But what does that look like?

Absolutely first class stunning protein that we are honored to serve to families in our community.

All the food we recover is delicious and while it may not always look like this, when it does we drool a little, get excited, and have to take a photo.

This week we were honored to have and host the Leadership Team from Swiss Re in our kitchen. Leaders from all over the world including Switzerland, UK amd Brazil came together in Kansas City to meet and strategize. Part of their time together they chose to spend with us and pack meals for families here in KC.

Pete's Garden is fortunate and grateful to have an amazing partnership with Swiss Re. They continously support our mission and the work we do in so many ways.

Congratulations to KFKids Educator Jennifer Noriega who was awarded a grant to support the ongoing Implementation of Kids Feeding Kids at Table Rock Career Center!

Congratulations to Mrs. Noriega and our Culinary Arts program for being awarded a $1,300 grant through the Louis L. and Julia Dorothy Coover Charitable Foundation in partnership with the Community Foundation of the Ozarks. The funds from this grant will go in support of the program's Kids Feeding Kids Initiative.

Results are in! Four out of four give a thumbs up for food recovery in Kansas City!

Each week our amazing staff and volunteers recover thousands of pounds of food and redirect that into meals we provide to local Kansas City families that are in need.

We love saving food. We love feeding families. We love our small but mighty team. We love our volunteers. We love the combined effort to make a difference in our community.

Our mission is simple yet profound.

Nearly 4 and a half tons...literally...went to our partner organizations last week to share with the families they serve. Recovered from food donors, brought to our kitchen, safely and carefully packed by volunteers: this food is too good to waste! We also help get other food items to places that can use them. Drinks, pastries, bread, fresh produce and even raw beef are not handled in our kitchen...an additional 2889 pounds that Tiny Pantry Times and others helped distribute. BIG week of food donations especially from , 's Pet Food Forum, Aramark draft and Rookie minicamp.
