Critterhousekc CritterhouseKC is a foster-based animal rescue organization operating in Greater Kansas City. Every pet deserves a home and every home deserves a pet.

At CritterHouseKC, we specialize in finding foster homes and providing care for animals in some of the most challenging situations, ultimately finding them permanent homes with loving families. We take in mamas and babies, pregnant cats and dogs, orphaned puppies and kittens and babies with a variety of special needs. We also have the opportunity from time to time to pull animals released from com

mercial breeding facilities into our program. These animals require a special skill set to transition them from a life of breeding to life as a treasured family member. CritterHouseKC was born from a collection of volunteers who have served the greater Kansas City area rescue community for decades. We understand the needs of area animals and potential adopters alike and bring a fresh perspective to the art of connecting the right pet to the right home. Further, our great veterinary partners and our relationships with other rescue groups throughout the region allow us to offer low-cost adoptions after providing spay/neuter surgery, age-appropriate vaccination and microchips.

Looking for a loyal companion who just wants to be wherever you are? Moe might be your perfect match!

♥️ Moe is a sweet, affectionate boy who loves being close to his people. Working from home? You can expect to find him curled up nearby, possibly using your foot as his pillow. Heading somewhere else in the house? Chances are, Moe will happily be right behind you. He’s the kind of dog who simply enjoys being part of whatever his people are doing.

🐶🐱 Moe is a friend to everyone! He fit right in with his foster family’s dogs and cat and makes friends easily. When it’s time to relax, he’s just as happy snuggling nearby as he is snoozing peacefully in his own dog bed.

🧠 He’s also one smart boy! Moe learned how to use the dog door within minutes, already knows how to sit, and is continuing to learn new words and commands. He’s a great watchdog too, with an impressive big-boy bark!

Does everyone remember Gigi? She was the little Havanese with an old hip injury. Our amazing followers helped us pay for her FHO surgery with the hope that this would give her some relief from her constant pain, and allow her to use her leg normally. Well, she had the surgery, but there were complications, and the damage was far worse than we expected. When she was still refusing to put weight on it after a couple of weeks, and after a lot of discussion, consultation, and assessment, we decided that an amputation would give her the best quality of life.

A little over a week ago, our amazing partners at Union Hill Animal Hospital, specifically, Dr. Williams and her team, removed her leg and with it, her chronic pain. Two days later, her foster reported that she was trying to frolic through the pasture!

We are committed to the care of every animal we take in. Obviously our expenses in Gigi's case have exceeded our initial estimations. If you would like to help with Gigi's ongoing care, you can donate to us directly through our website:

Gigi wants to thank everyone who donated to her surgery! As a reminder, 2 year old Gigi came from a breeder with an untreated injury to her hip that is now riddled with arthritis. Thanks to your generosity, she is scheduled on 6/12/26 for an FHO, and, if all goes well, she will be pain free and available for adoption by early July.

While we have her surgery costs covered, we have also incurred close to $500 in charges for office visits, medication, X-rays, etc. and we expect to have some post surgical costs. Anything received over and above the cost of her surgery will be used to cover those fees.

We appreciate each and every one of you for your kindness!!

I want to shout out our great friend, Heather, volunteer, foster and adopter, who provided Dolly Parton's post pregnancy glow-up! After almost 8 weeks nursing and caring for her single puppy, Dolly was looking a little raggedy! Heather never turns away a CritterHouseKC dog, even though she has transitioned her business away from grooming. If you'd like to find Heather, you can look for her at the Blue Springs Market on Main, every Saturday from 8-12 for a perfect puppy pedicure!
