Todd Howerton President Local IBEW Local 124 Current President of Local 124

Brothers and Sisters of IBEW Local 124,

I want to take a moment to sincerely thank each of you for the faith and trust you have placed in me over the years. Serving as an officer of Local 124 since 2005 has been one of the greatest honors of my life, and I do not take that responsibility lightly—especially knowing I have once again earned your confidence as I am unopposed in this election.

I am a 27-year member of this local, and my journey as an officer began just one year after completing my apprenticeship, when I was elected to the Examining Board in 2005. Since then, I have had the privilege of serving on the Executive Board and am now nearing the end of my second term as President. I have spent nearly my entire Journeyman Wireman career working on behalf of this local—and I wouldn’t trade that experience for anything.

IBEW Local 124 is not just where I work; it is part of who I am. My mom married my stepdad, Steve Howerton, in 1977, when I was just two years old. Steve was a proud member of Local 124, and he passed away suddenly on the job in 1994. His dedication to this trade and this brotherhood left a lasting impression on me. When I started my apprenticeship in 1999, I became a third-generation member of this local—a legacy that I carry with pride every single day.

This local has taken care of my family and me for as long as I can remember. Because of Local 124, I have always had a roof over my head, clothes on my back, and food on my table. That kind of stability and opportunity is not something I forget, and it is a debt that can never truly be repaid—only honored through service.

I would not be who I am today without the many mentors who have guided me, challenged me, and believed in me along the way. Some were officers, some were instructors, some were foremen, and some were simply brothers and sisters who took the time to teach me the right way to do this job, conduct myself with integrity. I have been fortunate to learn from great leaders in the past, and I continue to learn from those around me today. My stepdad, Steve, remains one of those mentors whose example still guides me.

As I look ahead, I want you to know this: every decision I make is made with the continued prosperity of IBEW Local 124 and its members at heart. I weigh every issue through the lens of what is best for this local—not just today, but for the generations that will come after us. The responsibility of leadership is not about the title; it is about stewardship, accountability, and doing the right thing even when it’s hard.

Thank you for allowing me to serve you for a 3rd term. Thank you for your trust, your support, and your belief in me. I am proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with you all, and I am committed to continuing this work with honesty, dedication, and respect for everything Local 124 represents.

In solidarity,

Todd Howerton

So Associated Builders and Contractors, you’re telling me that a skilled workforce isn’t necessary? Sounds to me like you’re just advocating for a workforce you can pay less money so you can keep your million $ lake houses and boats. This is why we’re taking your workers left and right!!! They deserve better and the customer deserves better. Byw, your article is wrong. It’s nkt growing the workforce in our community. Go look in the PortKC job parking lots. The workers are coming from out of state

In the name of supporting workers' rights and craft training, last week the Building Trades took to the streets of City Hall and Port KC to demand increased

As an ibew member we are compelled to be afaonst any kind of subversive “ism”. We have a president that wallaows in racism and I cannot support anyone that supports him

I’m not even going to post a picture of it It’s too degrading. But in no way, shape, or form is it acceptable for anyone, let alone the president of the United States, to make a video or whatever depicting a former president, or anyone the way Trump did.

You can’t explain it away. It’s nit a joke It’s steaight up racism. If you condone it, or find humor in it, just leave. I dint have time for your racism

The person holding the office of the President of the United States is someone that should be looked up to as an example of how to conduct yourself. Not an adult acting like a child. Check that, a child who is raised correctly would not act in this manner. We’re all fallible, so I don’t expect perfection. But we should expect our president to be a respectable human being. A person that knows right from wrong. Not this kind of bu****it.

I have to say that I 100% feel that I’ve found my calling by working on behalf of the membership. Basically, dedidicated my whole JW career to the local, as I have been an elected officer starting in 2005… (self Imposed hiatus 2014-2017)

It has been an amazing adventure that I wouldn’t trade for anything in the world. I hope to continue this journey in representing EVERY PERSON in this local to the best of my ability!!

If you have any queations, Please reach out!

Thank you all!!

Republicans: Education should be handled at the state level.

Also Republicans: Right to Work (for less) should be nation wide

Figure that one out and get back to me. 🤔
