Friends of Kalamazoo Historic Cemeteries

Friends of Kalamazoo Historic Cemeteries This 100% volunteer organization has successfully preserved over 200 gravesites since its inception.

Friends of Kalamazoo Historic Cemeteries is dedicated to collaborating with the City of Kalamazoo to preserve, restore and conserve the city’s historic cemeteries, creating educational opportunities to inform the public about our rich history. Established in 2022, Friends of Kalamazoo Historic Cemeteries work to preserve, restore and conserve Kalamazoo’s historic cemeteries with the focus on Mount

ain Home Cemetery established in 1849 and Riverside Cemetery established in 1866. Through collaboration with the city of Kalamazoo, our projects conserve and enhance the beauty of the natural habitat in these cemeteries while also providing educational opportunities for the community. The preservation and restoration efforts follow the best practices as outlined by the National Park Service and as elaborated in the Michigan Historic Cemeteries Preservation Gude and are implemented through trained community volunteers. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization all donations are tax deductible.

I was just forwarded the article and it is amazing!!! It's engaging, thoughtful, insightful, well-rounded and hits in a very meaningful way.

I know the article is already resonating in the community because I have received over 10 requests through our website to join us in helping preserve these amazing monuments and to help educate our neighbors on our rich local history. Kalamazoo is proud this morning!

A sincere thank you from the entire board.

Grateful for all you do! Have a fantastic weekend ~
