Opening Friday: TO A LAND UNKNOWN Palestinian refugee cousins, Chatila and Reda are saving to pay for fake passports to get out of Athens. But when Reda loses their hard-earned cash to his drug addiction, Chatila hatches a plan, which involves them posing as smugglers and taking hostages in an effort to get Reda and his best friend out of their environment before it is too late. Shot in grainy 16mm, one reviewer called the film bitterly unsentimental, with a dark streak of humor, and real tenderness. Co-writer/director: Mahdi Fleifel

Opening Friday: THE PHOENICIAN SCHEME The brief description "The story of a family and a family business" seems woefully undescriptive, but Wes Anderson's vision and style can only mean something special is at hand. And if that's not enough, there is a constellation of acting star power aboard, including Benecio Del Toro, Tom Hanks, Michael Cera, Riz Ahmed, Scarlett Johansson, and many more.
