Plein Air Artists of West Michigan - PAAWM PAAWM is a fellowship of artists who find inspiration painting together 'en plein air' in West MI.

Plein Air Painting in West Michigan with a loosely organized group - membership is by participation. We welcome new artists at any level wanting to learn and advance their development as artists. Artists are encouraged to attend as many paint outs and PAAWM events as they can fit into their schedule.

Last paint out for 2025... Bertha Brock Park - 2311 Bluewater Hwy, Ionia. Meetup time is 1:30 and paint until 4:30. Not only will it be warmer but the sun will be going down towards the end which should give us some beautiful warm light! What a way to end a Saturday.

Critiques at the lodge at 4:45 if you like to learn from everyone and pick the creative minds of the group.

Painters, I (your fearless leader, Danelle Nelson) have seen a few comments regarding the Felt Mansion not being the favorite subject for painting. I completely respect and value your opinions. Please remember, there is a location request form in our google forms. See the link in the bio of this page. Also! If you haven't been on the dunes behind the mansion, I highly highly recommend it and am personally planning to paint there the next time we go there. There are spectacular views of the lake from high up in a dune with gorgeous pines and dunes leading toward a stunning lake view. All over the place. I'm adding a trail map for you. CHECK IT OUT!!!
