The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) has identified the victim in Saturday nightโs fatal shooting on E. North Street as Montine Wiley, a 27-year-old Kalamazoo resident.
Mr. Wiley was working as a security guard at a private event in the 400 block of E. North Street on April 12, 2025, when an altercation occurred between him and a patron. During the incident, Mr. Wiley was shot in the chest. He was transported by LIFE Ambulance to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased at 11:39 p.m.
Detectives are continuing to investigate and are asking for the publicโs assistance in identifying two individuals who may have information related to the shooting:

KDPS extends its deepest condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of Montine Wiley as they mourn this tragic loss.
