🔴 Let’s Talk About Retaliation 🔴

When people speak up against injustice—especially in schools—it’s not uncommon for them to face retaliation. But retaliation isn’t always obvious. It comes in many forms, especially on social media, where it’s easy to hide behind screens.

Here’s what retaliation can look like:
• Public posts trying to discredit or embarrass advocates
• Digging up someone’s past to shame them into silence
• Calling people hypocrites or blaming parents for systemic problems
• Spreading lies that we “don’t have the facts”
• Creating a hostile environment to intimidate anyone who speaks up

💥 Reminder: Retaliation is a Civil Rights Violation.
It is illegal to harass, intimidate, or punish anyone for filing a complaint, sharing their story, or advocating for others’ rights.

📢 To those questioning our facts: If you had joined us, supported us, or even reached out—you wouldn’t be left wondering.
We don’t have to share everything publicly because we take the privacy and safety of those involved seriously. That’s how advocacy works—with protection and integrity.

This movement is not about attacking people. It’s about protecting students. It’s about demanding accountability. And it’s about standing for what’s right—even when it’s hard.

🛑 Retaliation won’t stop this movement. It only proves why it’s needed.

❤️‍🔥 COMMUNITY CALL TO ACTION: STAND WITH OUR STUDENTS

To our beloved Kahuku ‘ohana — families, teachers, alumni, and students,

We need to say something that’s been weighing heavy on our hearts:

Our students are not safe when they speak up.

When they raise concerns — about unfair treatment, unsafe conditions, or retaliation — they aren’t met with protection.

They’re met with silence.
Or worse — with punishment.
With isolation.
With being labeled uncoachable or problematic.
With adults turning a blind eye to protect positions, power, or comfort.

And in our community, where respect is everything, speaking up is often mistaken for disrespect.
Our kids are told to be quiet.
To not challenge authority.
To “stay in their place.”

➡️ So when they speak up, they’re called disrespectful.
Even when they’re doing it out of courage, love, and truth.

But this culture — where silence is seen as respectful and obedience is mistaken for loyalty — is hurting our kids.
It’s teaching them that their well-being matters less than reputation.
That protecting adults matters more than protecting students.

We’ve heard it time and again:
“I support you… but I can’t post.”
“I believe in what you’re doing, but I need to stay neutral.”
“I’m praying for you — but I can’t be seen at the rallies.”

To those standing on the fence:
Your silence is a choice.
And your neutrality is being felt by the kids who are risking everything to speak up.

This isn’t about drama.
This isn’t about revenge.
This is about the well-being, safety, and mental health of our students.
And they need more than silent support.

They need people who will stand with them publicly.
People who will risk discomfort to protect what’s right.
