I am not sure I have the words to convey the sadness of this post. Today is Dayton's 24th birthday in heaven. We remember him every year, but this year is different because his mom isn't here to post about him. His mom Lisa West-Mullen died a week before Thanksgiving in 2025. Lisa was an advocate on safe sleep after losing Dayton. Lisa followed the so called "safe bed sharing guidelines" was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol and Dayton still died next to his mom who would have done anything to keep him safe.
In 2010 when this page was created, I met two wonderful women who understood my pain Lisa and Tiffany. The bond the three of us had was so strong. They made me feel not only supported and loved but made sure I knew I wasn't a bad mother for losing my son Jaleel to bed sharing and I made two friends who understood the pain of losing your child to a bed sharing accident. For the first time I didn't feel alone because of them!
First Tiffany died and now Lisa. It's heartbreaking to be alone once again without them. I know Lisa and I were so distraught when Tiff died and leaned on one another, and then Lisa died. I couldn't convey in words how hard it was losing her too. I know if I died, they would make sure Jaleel was remembered. I will do the same and make sure Dayton and Kennedy are remembered.
I don't know if heaven exists but if it does, I know they are finally reunited with their babies. They no longer have to grieve!
Tiffany once said to me, " The only finish line to grieve it when we die." I am glad they no longer have to grieve for their babies but Lisa and Tiffany and their babies will never be forgotten.
Dayton if you are with your mom please tell her we are glad she is no longer in pain, but we miss you and her terribly.
I imagine Lisa reunited with Dayton and telling him all about the incredible work she did in his memory! Holding him in her arms again and they will never be separated again. I imagine Lisa and Dayton as the first picture shows, her holding and loving her baby.
Lisa thank you for your friendship, for sharing Dayton with us, and advocating for all babies in his Memory! You two will never be forgotten!
