Happy Belated Birthday to our Board President, Terry Butler! 🎉

Terry spent her birthday this past Friday doing what she loves most- enjoying Downtown Junction City with her grandchildren, soaking up the beautiful summer weather, and supporting the amazing local businesses that make our community special. ☀️❤️

Behind so many great things happening in our community is Terry's passion and unwavering dedication. She is truly a catalyst for positive change, and her love for downtown shines through in everything she does.

We are incredibly grateful for all that she contributes to Junction City and Main Street. Please join us in wishing Terry a very happy belated birthday and a wonderful year ahead! 🎂🎈

What an incredible two days for Junction City and Geary County! On May 27–28, community members, business owners, organizations, elected officials, and partners filled the City Municipal Building for the EPA Recreation Economy for Rural Communities (RERC) Workshop, resulting in the largest turnout in the history of the program.

This was supported through a collaborative effort between five federal agencies and the Flint Hills Regional Council, who helped write the application. The workshop brought national expertise together with local vision and passion to help shape the future of our community.

From creative ideas and bold conversations to passionate discussions about recreation, tourism, downtown development, and quality of life, the energy in the room was unmatched. This workshop showcased the heart of Junction City: people who care deeply and are willing to put in the effort to move our community forward.

A huge thank you to every volunteer, attendee, presenter, and partner who helped make this possible, along with our generous sponsors who invested in this experience and our future. Your support helped create a welcoming space for collaboration, innovation, and community-driven visioning.

The momentum coming out of this workshop is only the beginning.

Thank you to all our supporters for making this possible!

May’s HYPE Team meetup had us singing our hearts out at The Spot Karaoke 🎤✨

Our colorful crew rented out the “Good Vibes Room” and fully embraced our inner rockstars! From Whitney Houston to Flo Rida to Miley Cyrus, we SANG loud and proud! 😆

If you haven’t checked out The Spot yet, it’s Junction City’s only private karaoke suite venue and such a fun, family-friendly addition to downtown! Whether you’re planning a birthday party, team building night, girls night out, date night, or just trying to keep the kids entertained this summer, this place delivers. Each themed room fits up to 12 people and gives you access to THOUSANDS of songs across lots of genres and languages. 🎶

Choose from the Good Vibes Room, Records Room, or Swiftie Room and get ready for a night full of laughs, music, and questionable singing decisions. 😂 Plus, they’ve got snacks, sodas, beers, and wine coolers available for purchase while you sing the night away!

Andddd… they’ve got some big news coming! Let’s just say downtown might be getting a little more puzzling soon. 👀🗝️🔐

Thank you Rick for hosting our crazy bunch!

Follow The Spot Karaoke and go give them some love! ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🩷

This is what it looks like when a community shows up. 🌊🌻🛶

Today, community members gathered alongside the federal agency teams for the Recreational Economy for Rural Communities (RERC) workshop to brainstorm ways we can better amplify Junction City’s incredible natural resource assets for both visitors and residents alike. From outdoor recreation and river access to trails, placemaking, and downtown connectivity, these conversations are helping shape the future of our community.

At the beginning of the workshop, attendees were asked to describe Junction City in just one word. Here’s what they said:

Warm. Welcoming. Social. Diverse. Amazing. Connected. Innovative. “Upwards.” Vibrant. “Iridescent.” Accepting. Outgoing. Resilient. Patriotic. Dedicated. Helpful. 💙🩷🧡

That says a lot about who we are. We can’t wait to update on what the community has come up with!

Tomorrow and Thursday, the RERC workshops are coming to downtown Junction City, and today is the LAST day to register! 🌊🥾🛶🌻🐛

If you’re passionate about outdoor recreation, downtown infrastructure, community development, trails, river access, tourism, or the future of our community, this is your chance to help shape the conversation and make your voice heard.

Come share ideas, connect with others, and be part of the future of Junction City! RSVP today before registration closes. https://shorturl.at/zZBcP
