As time passes I find myself changing my approach of how I investigate. This past weekend I heard someone use the term "observer" and I thought to myself, that might be the best way to describe me, maybe I'm not a "paranormal investigator" but instead a "paranormal observer" what is that you ask?
A Paranormal Observer is not the person who rushes through a building chasing every noise, shadow, or unexplained sound. They are the investigator who understands that sometimes the most powerful evidence comes from patience, stillness, and allowing a location to reveal itself on its own terms.
Rather than actively seeking out spirits, a Paranormal Observer enters a location with quiet respect. They find a place, settle into the environment, and simply observe. They listen to the creaks of an aging structure, watch the movement of shadows, feel subtle changes in the atmosphere, and allow themselves to become part of the location rather than a disruption to it.
The philosophy is simple: If something is truly there, it does not need to be chased.
A Paranormal Observer believes that spirits, if they exist, are more likely to approach when they are not being provoked, challenged, or constantly pursued. By remaining calm, quiet, and present, they create an opportunity for natural interaction. They become less of a hunter and more of a witness.
Their greatest tools are patience, awareness, and the ability to sit in silence when others feel compelled to fill it. Hours may pass with nothing occurring at all—and they are comfortable with that. Because when something finally does happen, they know it happened naturally, without influence or expectation.
A Paranormal Observer understands that every location has a story to tell. Their role is not to force the story to unfold, but to be there when it chooses to reveal itself.
"I do not chase spirits. I simply make myself available, remain observant, and allow the unseen to decide if it wishes to be seen."
