We got to visit our friends at Merkinch & South Kessock Free Church for food, fellowship, and worship in Inverness, Scotland. This church is a living example of the kind of close, compassionate community that we hope to see in more churches, both here and in the U.S. They are also a member of the 20 Schemes church planting network, a potential ministry partner in Scotland that we would love to work alongside.

Chris Davidson is the pastor of Merkinch & South Kessock Free Church, and was featured on a recent episode of our podcast Intrinsically Motivated, which you can find on our About page.

Please pray for the Merkinch church, and pray that the Lord would open doors for future partnership and encouragement for us in gospel ministry.

We're thrilled to have shared our Trauma-Informed Church training with the compassionate community at Granton Baptist in Edinburgh, Scotland. Here we found a group of like minded and big-hearted Christians who are passionate about serving those who need it most. We're excited to see the ripple effect of hope and healing that will come from our time together.

Interested in empowering your community to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected by addiction or trauma? Let's explore how we can work together to train, equip, and encourage one another.

We met up with The Cryrenians, a non-profit that works directly to address homelessness in Scotland, and got an eye opening city tour from Nick, who searches Edinburgh almost daily to help those in need. He shared about his decades-long personal journey of helping people out of homelessness, including joyous success stories as well as heartbreaking losses. Following Nick, we got an up-close look at the realities of homelessness and addiction, and began to see, not only Edinburgh, but our own cities, in a completely different way.

We were blessed to experience a Connect meeting hosted by Junction 42, where many gathered at Ebenezer United Free Church of Scotland to share a meal, fellowship, worship, and prayer. These Christians had a clear passion for the gospel, and compassionate hearts towards those in need of healing. It was a real encouragement to worship with these brothers and sisters.

🚗 VOLUNTEERS NEEDED 🚗

A ride may seem small to you.
But for someone in recovery, it could be the reason they make it to job training, school, work, or a new beginning.

Uplift Appalachia is looking for compassionate volunteers to help transport men and women in recovery to educational programs and career training opportunities throughout our region. Uplift’s transportation ministry is built around relationship-driven support that helps remove barriers to recovery and long-term stability.

You don’t have to be a counselor or expert.
You just have to be willing to show up.

As a volunteer driver, you can help:
✨ Support someone’s recovery journey
✨ Encourage independence and stability
✨ Build meaningful relationships
✨ Help connect people to work, education, and community

Every conversation matters. Every person matters.

What do you do when you've been up for nearly 30 hours traveling to Scotland? You get to work planning for two full weeks of ministry, obviously!

Well, that's what we did anyway...

Please join us in prayer over the following things:
1. Ask the Lord continue to protect and provide
2. Ask the Holy Spirit to grant us unity and boldness to share the gospel and encourage believers here
3. Ask the Lord help us to get connected to the people and places that would lead to the greatest impact for his kingdom
4. Ask the Lord to teach us what we need to learn from our experience here

For the past 10 days Uplift President Andi Clements and her husband Dale (who took all the pictures) have been meeting with and collaborating with recovery organizations and church leaders in Scotland to address people’s struggles with Trauma and Addiction.

Today, the rest of the team from Uplift left to join them for two weeks of ministry support and training. Pray that God will use this time to motivate and equip others while being grown personally as we continue to answer the call of God to serve hurting people.
