As members of the IAFF, we stand together to protect not only our citizens, but also the rights, safety, and well-being of those who answer the call. The official page of the Johnson City Professional Firefighters Association. We are the collective bargaining unit of the firefighters who protect lives and property in the Village of Johnson City, New York and the hamlets of Westover and Fairmont Park in the Town of Union.

🏆🚒 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲! 🚒🏆

Today, the Commissioners Cup—won by the for an incredible third consecutive season—made a special stop at our firehouse!

Our members enjoyed the opportunity to see the championship trophy up close and celebrate an outstanding accomplishment by one of our region's premier sports organizations.

Congratulations to the players, coaches, staff, and fans of the Binghamton Black Bears on an incredible championship run and a historic three-peat. Your hard work, determination, and commitment to excellence are something our entire community can be proud of.

Thank you for bringing the Commissioners Cup by to share with our firefighters. We appreciate the visit and wish the Black Bears continued success!

🚒 𝗠𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗶𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲

Members of Group C are currently operating with Engine 26-1 at a 3rd Alarm building fire at the Knights Inn in Endwell.

Our firefighters are working alongside numerous mutual aid agencies to help bring this incident under control and protect life and property.

While our members are assisting our neighbors, crews have been backfilled to ensure the Village of Johnson City continues to receive uninterrupted fire protection and emergency response coverage. Mutual aid works because neighboring departments stand ready to support one another while maintaining service to their own communities.

We ask the public to avoid the area, follow the directions of emergency personnel, and leave access routes clear for responding apparatus.

Additional updates will be shared when operationally appropriate.

Please keep all of the firefighters and first responders working at this incident in your thoughts as they continue their efforts.

As students from Johnson City High School and surrounding school districts celebrate graduation season, the members of Johnson City Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 921 would like to congratulate all graduates on this important milestone.

Graduation is a time to celebrate accomplishments, friendships, and new beginnings—but it's also important to make safety part of the celebration.

As you attend graduation parties and celebrations:

✔️ Never drink and drive
✔️ Always wear your seatbelt
✔️ Designate a sober driver or arrange a safe ride home
✔️ Stay aware of your surroundings and look out for your friends
✔️ Make responsible decisions that allow everyone to celebrate safely

We want every graduate, family member, and friend to enjoy the festivities and return home safely.

Today, we recognize and celebrate all the fathers, stepfathers, grandfathers, and father figures who make a difference in the lives of their families and communities.

A special thank you goes out to the firefighter dads of Local 921 who balance the responsibilities of serving the public while being role models, mentors, and providers at home. Whether working holidays, missing family events, or answering late-night calls, their families make sacrifices right alongside them.

To all the fathers in Johnson City and beyond, thank you for your dedication, guidance, and love.

Today, we recognize Juneteenth, a day commemorating the end of slavery in the United States and celebrating freedom, resilience, and progress.

Juneteenth serves as an opportunity to reflect on our nation’s history, honor those who fought for equality and justice, and reaffirm our commitment to serving every member of our community with dignity and respect.

As firefighters, we are proud to serve a diverse community and remain committed to protecting all those who live, work, and visit Johnson City.

🚒⛓️ 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗘𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘀 ⛓️🚒

Recently, several members of Johnson City Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 921 participated in an IAFF Confined Space Rescue training program hosted by the Endicott Fire Department.

The course brought together firefighters from Johnson City, Endicott, and Binghamton, providing an excellent opportunity to train alongside our neighboring departments while learning specialized rescue techniques for some of the most complex and hazardous incidents firefighters may encounter.

From hazard recognition and atmospheric monitoring to rescue operations and teamwork, the training emphasized the skills, planning, and coordination required to safely operate in confined space environments.

We would like to thank the Endicott Fire Department for hosting the class and the IAFF instructors for sharing their expertise and real-world experience.

Training together strengthens our regional partnerships and ensures we are prepared to respond whenever and wherever our communities need us.

Today, we proudly recognize Flag Day and honor the Stars and Stripes that have represented our nation's values, sacrifices, and freedoms for generations.

For firefighters, the American flag serves as a reminder of duty, service, and commitment to something greater than ourselves. It flies above our stations, our apparatus, and our community as a symbol of the people we are honored to protect.

As we celebrate Flag Day, we remember those who have defended our nation, those who continue to serve, and the communities that make America strong.

⛳️🚒 𝗦𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 🚒⛳️

Recently, our Benevolent Association was proud to host our annual Spring Fling at Traditions at the Glen and Shug's Sports Bar & Grill.

Spring Fling is one of our favorite traditions of the year, bringing together current members and retirees for a day of golf, food, laughter, and camaraderie. It provides an opportunity to reconnect with those who helped build our department and our union while strengthening the bonds that continue to make Local 921 a family.

The friendships and brotherhood forged through years of service don't end at retirement, and events like this help ensure those connections remain strong for generations to come.

A sincere thank you to everyone who attended and helped make this year's event another success. We especially appreciate our retirees whose dedication and service helped shape the department and union we are proud to represent today.

⛈️⚡ 𝗧𝗵𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗺 & 𝗗𝗼𝘄𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗪𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆 ⚡⛈️

Summer storms can develop quickly and bring dangerous lightning, strong winds, and downed power lines.

If you encounter a downed wire:

⚠️ Stay at least 30 feet away
⚠️ Assume every wire is energized and dangerous
⚠️ Keep children and pets away
⚠️ Never drive over or touch a downed wire
⚠️ Call 911 and your utility provider immediately

During thunderstorms:

✔️ Move indoors when thunder is heard
✔️ Avoid open areas, tall trees, and bodies of water
✔️ Stay away from electrical appliances and corded phones
✔️ Monitor weather alerts and warnings

Remember: If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning.

🏊☀️ 𝗣𝗼𝗼𝗹 & 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆

As summer arrives and backyard pools open across Johnson City, now is the time to make water safety a priority.

✔️ Never leave children unattended near water—even for a moment
✔️ Secure pools with proper fencing, gates, and self-latching access points
✔️ Remove toys from pools when not in use to discourage unsupervised access
✔️ Ensure retaining walls, decks, and poolside walking surfaces are maintained and free of hazards
✔️ Designate a responsible adult to actively supervise children during gatherings

Most water emergencies happen quickly and quietly. A few simple precautions can prevent a tragedy.

Because the best water rescue is the one that never has to happen.
