As we move through this season of transition, we are grateful for the encouragement and care surrounding MTM Ministries. The mission continues, and right now there is an immediate opportunity to be part of it.

Two REBOOT Recovery courses are starting next week in Johnson City, TN. A Military course begins January 27, and a Trauma course begins January 28. Both are co-ed, in person, and peer led.

If you are not local, there are also virtual options and in person Trauma, Military, and First Responder courses starting across the country. You can find and register for a course at rebootrecovery.com/en/join using the drop down menu.

Whether this is for you or someone you care about, we invite you to take a look and share the opportunity.

It was a great morning! Six amazing volunteers came out to help carve the new walking path from the porch area to the trailhead at last week. We mowed, tilled, and dug out the path, getting it ready for the next step toward a smooth trail that everyone can enjoy.

The morning started off chilly, but the teamwork warmed things up fast. We also cleared the hiking trails down to the campfire pit, making the space cleaner and more welcoming for all who visit.

A HUGE thanks to everyone who showed up to lend a hand and share their time. Each effort like this helps make Trinity Grace Farm a peaceful place, and helps our participants have an accessible friendly space to gather.

When most of us are running away from danger, they’re the ones running toward it.

One of them was Officer Sean Collier, who served with the MIT Police in Boston. In 2013, just days after the Boston Marathon bombing, Sean was ambushed and killed in the line of duty at only 26 years old. His family turned their grief into purpose, inspiring what we now know as National First Responders Day, observed every year on October 28.

Sean’s story reminds us that recognition matters. It’s about honoring the firefighters, EMTs, police officers, dispatchers, and paramedics who show up when the rest of us can’t. It’s about saying, “We see you.”

At MTM Ministries, we walk alongside first responders long after the sirens fade. Through outdoor experiences, peer mentorship, and trauma recovery programs, we help them find peace, connection, and healing. We also provide mental health coaching, physical recovery resources, and soul care to strengthen their resilience in every season.

If you’re a first responder who feels the weight of the work, or you know someone who does, reach out. You don’t have to carry it alone.

Big thank to Trinity Grace Farm hosting the first of many Campfire & Connection gatherings. We kicked off this event for Veterans just before sunset. Everyone enjoyed some conversation and good eats, and then we hit the trail. After a brief hunt to find the best view of the sunset, we headed back to the fire for some time to relax. One of our founders, Tom, shared a few stories and talked about the importance of trust and building a support system for trauma recovery. We enjoyed get to know everyone that came out, and can’t wait to have you out again in the future.

Nearly 30% of first responders develop behavioral health conditions linked to trauma exposure. Too often, they face it in silence, carrying the weight long after the crisis ends.

At MTM Ministries, we walk beside those on the front lines with faith-based, non-clinical, peer-led programs that create opportunity for rest, renewal, and practical support.

From trauma to hope, our mission is to ensure no responder or their family has to navigate these struggles alone.

Visit our website to learn how you can be part of their solution.

Not everyone who experiences trauma develops PTSD. Many experience Post-Traumatic Stress (PTS) is a normal reaction to a trauma. When those reactions linger, intensify, and interfere with daily life, they may develop into Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

There are 4 Key Differences between PTS & PTSD
Let's break it down.

Post-Traumatic Stress (PTS)
-Short-term, situational stress
-Symptoms fade with time and support
-Still able to function day-to-day
-Doesn’t usually require diagnosis

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
-Long-term, often persistent stress
-Symptoms worsen or don’t improve over time
-Struggles with work, relationships, sleep, etc.
-May require clinical diagnosis and care

Knowing the difference helps us respond with greater care.
PTS is not a weakness. It is your nervous system reacting to something hard.
PTSD is not a failure. It is a sign your nervous system is asking for deeper support.

This month, our Anonymous Confession Box is open to those in need.
