FabuCats was founded on August 7th, 2021 by Air Elliott of Jesup, GA to promote innovative and humane solutions to the overpopulation crisis of free roaming/abandoned/lost homeless cats in rural Georgia. We are a federally recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN is 88-1453158), registered as a nonprofit organization in the state of Georgia, and licensed by the GA Department of Agriculture as a animal rescue/shelter.

Air here—let me be the first say to you! 💖🐈💖 Fingers and toes crossed and prayers that it will be a one!

This oh so teeny tiny little soul may be the most difficult bottle baby I’ve ever had. He won’t latch; he is to wild and wiggly to tube feed. Each feeding requires him being purrritoed and fed his Fox Valley Formula drop by drop—30 minutes to feed one teeny tiny baby! But, slowly and surely he is making gains.

I hope that will be the case over the next 8 hours for donations to help FabuCats meet our most urgent needs. As of midnight we’ve raised $25 of the $900 needed by 9AM, with $1700 still needed in total.

🚨$875 RAISED🚨$1725 STILL
NEEDED🚨 🔌+🚰 + LIFESAVING MEDS + FOOD🚨

Unexpected expenses, including the main AC unit at the FabuCats’ Clubhouse finally failing, an extra high power bill, and a low cost food truck delayed 6 weeks (and still delayed), means our funding shortfall this month is $2600 just for immediate essential needs—the balance on our power bill, $1200 paid for wholesale medications, plus a $1000 reorder needed yesterday (or ASAP), and $900 needed to purchase discounted wet food for a month, saving 1/2 off retail.

We received a 24 hour extension to pay the power bill—until 9AM tomorrow (Tuesday) morning. We need to raise an additional $900 by 9AM tomorrow to ensure the lights (and water) don’t go out at FabuCats, leaving 400 FabuCats and kittens, and their very worried and exhausted caretakers in the dark, with no running water.

Funds are always stretched verrry thin. There is so much need, but very little give. This is now the 4th time in two years that we’ve faced such a dire situation, and we are definitely feeling like failures.

For those of you new here, FabuCats is a nonprofit rescue, shelter, and sanctuary in rural Southeast Georgia, committed to alleviating suffering, saving lives, and humanely and effectively addressing the cat population crisis. Because the need is so great in our area, despite adoptions and transfers and transports to trusted rescue partners, we maintain a population of approximately 400 cats and kittens in residence at any time at the Clubhouse (our main rescue shelter and adoption building) and the Catbitat (our sanctuary).

We so greatly appreciate and work hard to maximize the positive impact of every dollar donated. We always want to be good stewards of your faith in us and your donations. Please, if you can help, help now by giving what you can.

🚨$610 RAISED🚨$1990 STILL NEEDED🚨

Hi—it’s Air, founder of, bottle feeder (and anything else that needs to be done) at FabuCats. This is one of my favorite, and rare🙈, photos of me with 3 bottle babies who came to us from Long County Animal Control via our dear friends at SafeHollow Sanctuary. All 3 grew up to be healthy, gorgeous long-haired beauties.

This photo is from June 2023–about halfway through my journey as a rescuer so far. Looking at this photo, I feel like I am looking at a child—young, naive, and totally unaware of how hard rescue life in rural SE GA was about to become. I try to project optimism and to be positive and upbeat, truly believing if we can laugh, everything will be just fine.

It’s very hard to laugh right now. I am so, so very worried about so many things for FabuCats’ rescue, shelter, and sanctuary, and the cats and kittens, and community, who depend on us and need our help.

Mama-Miss Nang and I are personally all in every month but, otherwise, we are donor funded. We have no grants, yet, and no local, state, or federal govt funds. And, right now, the economy is terrifying, people are struggling, and donations are downnn.

But, there are non-negotiable bills due every month and so many kitties who need care and who need to eat everyday.

We must raise $2600 just to cover the shortfall for this month’s essential needs—the remaining balance on the power bill, essential medical care, and food—about $6 per cat and kitten currently in our care.

We’ve raised $610. Five FabuFriends gave to get us to $610. One drove out to the rescue to ensure we received his cash donation the very day we posted our great need. We have on FB alone, almost 8,000 more FabuFriends. But, not a single donation has been received this weekend.

Please on this Sunday night, if you can give, give what you can. No gift is too small. Every $1 helps, especially when compounded by the power of community.

Just a photo dump of our late afternoon walk around the outdoor enclosure of the Catbitat—the first time in 9 days that we haven’t had torrential rain at FabuCats—Hallejuah!!!🎉🐈‍⬛🎉

Most of the 150 cats who are permanent residents of the Catbitat—the sanctuary part of FabuCats with a 1000 sq ft indoor space, 2 covered porches, and a 20,000 sq ft outdoor enclosure, are still indoors enjoying their afternoon siesta, but these are a few of the FabuCats who decided to join me as I walked the perimeter kitty fence to make sure everything is still all good.

Since September 27, 2024, the night the lights went out for two weeks, when Hurricane Helene wreaked havoc on the FabuCats’ Clubhouse (our main shelter and adoption building) and Catbitat, and a botched and costly roof repair to the Clubhouse afterwards, we dread rain. It always adds greatly to our worry and workload.

It’s wild that we just passed the two year anniversary of the event which so negatively impacted, and is still negatively impacting, our forward momentum. We were so busy working, we didn’t even realize it came and went two weeks ago.

Though we slowed down intake to emergencies only, we could not hit the “pause” button on caring for the cats and kittens already in residence. Which is why, 2 years later, we are still in repair and recovery mode. BUT, we’ve made more progress in the past 4 months, than we made in the 20 months before.

For the sake of current and future FabuCats and kittens, we will persist until we succeed.

Our newest bottle babies NEED our HELP—and we NEED YOUR HELP. These three precious gingers came to us Wednesday evening and we have been very busy stabilizing them. One is latching and nursing fabulously. Two are having to be tube fed. Please send all the thoughts, prayers, light, and love for them to eat and grow strong and healthy!

They were orphaned when a neighbor “disposed of” their mother. Right now, we can’t dwell on what that means or we’d be consumed with ideas of the vigilante justice we could hand out, instead of focusing on the hands on care these 3 and so many others need right now.

In the past week, we’ve gained 🎉4000 followers🎉because of our 11 second video of Fluffy Chunk GREATLY ENJOYING his bottle. That is mind blowing! We are so grateful for such a HUGE increase in our reach and 🤞🏼🙏🏼🤞🏼 it means an increase in real help, so we can continue to help alleviate suffering and save lives.

In the past 3 weeks we’ve, received $275 of $400 needed to cover Sage’s surgery, and 5 donations totaling $350, which is not quite $1 for each FabuCat and kitten in our care. Every shortfall means we continue in limbo—surviving day-to-day, rather than thriving.

In the same 3 weeks, we have received dozens of calls, messages, texts, and emails to help 107 cats and kittens—2 days ago we had 8 requests between 6:30AM and 10AM. It is soul crushing to have to say “NO” again and again, but we cannot responsibly and safely intake what we cannot fix or feed. Kitties have to be fixed, and kitties need to eat—everyday.

They also need to be vaccinated, dewormed, flea treated, and treated for diarrhea and a whole host of other issues. Always, we strive to be good stewards by finding ways to maximize the positive impact of every penny donated.

If you can give, please give today—whether $5, $50, $500 or any amount in between or beyond, every $1 helps us help the cats and kittens who need us most.

Everyday might not be all good, but there is good in everyday. And when a day has been particularly heavy, try to find one good thing to focus on to lighten your heart, like Penelope intently focused on enjoying every drop of that goood milk!

It’s 3AM and Pen is just one of 10 bottle babies who needs a middle of the night feeding. A heavy load, yes, but they’re worth it.

! We believe in you. We hope you believe in us. And, we love you! Now, get a little more sleep so you can !

As soon as bottle baby #10 has enjoyed some goood milk, we’re going to take our own advice—😹
