🇺🇸 Outfitter Spotlight: Tomah Mountain Outfitters

This week we'd like to recognize an outfitter that has become much more than a hunting destination for our veterans—Tomah Mountain Outfitters.

This year marks our fourth year partnering with Tomah Mountain, and every single year they have gone above and beyond to make our veterans feel like family. While we've been blessed to see at least one veteran find success in the woods each season, the experience at Tomah Mountain is about so much more than harvesting a bear.

Joe Bowen, Ramona Bowen, and Joseph Bowen have created an environment that is truly therapeutic for the veterans we serve. From the moment our veterans arrive at camp, they are welcomed with open arms and treated like family. It's a place where they can leave their worries behind, enjoy the outdoors, share stories around the table, and reconnect with the camaraderie that many miss after their military service.

Their strong faith, genuine kindness, and commitment to serving others are evident in everything they do. The atmosphere they've built at camp creates lasting memories, meaningful friendships, and experiences that our veterans carry with them long after the hunt is over.

Joe, Ramona, and Joseph, thank you for your unwavering support of our mission and for everything you do for our veterans year after year. We are incredibly grateful for your friendship and partnership.

A huge shoutout to Meach's Auto Detailing for always taking care of our Band of Heroes Outdoors truck and helping keep it looking its best.

Most people see a truck. We see countless miles, early mornings, late nights, and memories made with veterans across the country. This truck serves as the primary transportation for many of our trips, carrying veterans to hunts and fishing trips that help restore camaraderie and connection.

It may not always be the most noticeable part of what we do, but without reliable transportation, many of these experiences simply wouldn't happen.

We're grateful for good people and local businesses like Meach's Auto Detailing who help us keep rolling down the road and continue our mission of healing veterans through the great outdoors.

The first outfitter we'd like to recognize is Knockturnal Knightmare Bowfishing and owners Chad Bowers and John Lancaster.

Since the very beginning of Band of Heroes Outdoors, Chad and John have been incredible supporters of our mission. Year after year, they've donated multiple bowfishing trips for our veterans, never asking for anything in return.

What they provide goes far beyond a night on the water. They create an environment where veterans can relax, share stories, laugh together, and reconnect with the camaraderie that many miss after their time in service. There's something special about spending a night under the lights with fellow veterans, making memories and building friendships that often last long after the trip is over.

The impact these trips have had on the veterans we serve cannot be measured in dollars. It's about the conversations, the connections, and the sense of brotherhood that comes from being surrounded by people who understand one another.

Chad and John, thank you for believing in our mission from day one and for your continued commitment to the veterans we serve. Your generosity has helped create countless memories and has made a lasting difference in the lives of so many veterans.

Today isn’t about barbecues, long weekends, or sales.
Today is about the men and women who never made it home.

It’s about the empty seats at family dinners.
The folded flags.
The phone calls that changed lives forever.
The brothers and sisters in arms who gave everything so the rest of us could live free.

At Band of Heroes Outdoors, we meet veterans every day who carry the weight of those losses long after the uniforms come off. Memorial Day can be heavy. It can bring back memories, grief, guilt, and names that will never be forgotten.

So today, we slow down and remember.

We remember the sacrifice.
We honor the fallen.
And we stand beside the veterans still carrying those memories with them every single day.

To the families who lost someone they love — we see you, we pray for you, and we honor their legacy.

Freedom has never been free.
May we never forget the cost.
