We were so inspired to see the people of Syracuse come together this weekend for the 2026 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk. Run by the American Cancer Society, the event raised critical funds for breast cancer programs and research in Central New York.

Saint Agatha Foundation’s Board President Kathy Mezzalingua attended and told participants about available financial assistance, saying: "We will help you, we're there for you.”

National Health Education Week begins today!

Organized annually by the Society for Public Health Education, National Health Education Week aims to increase awareness of major public health issues and improve our social understanding of health education and health promotion.

At Saint Agatha Foundation, we believe health education is essential to helping people make informed decisions about their care. When people have the information they need about their diagnosis, treatment, and available resources, they’re better equipped to make informed decisions about their care.

Yesterday, our Board President, Kathleen Mezzalingua, helped cut the ribbon on new equipment for Samaritan Medical Center Foundation, a recipient of Saint Agatha Foundation’s July rants made to Central NY facilities.

We can think of no better time for this technology to arrive than during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. These new early detection tools are an essential step in helping close the gap in rural healthcare for Central New York’s breast cancer communities. Everyone deserves to the care and technology they need no matter where they live.

While Saint Agatha Foundation is proud to have contributed to this event, that’s not the only way we provide support. Through grants provided by partner organizations, we can help financially support eligible patients, easing the burden of high medical bills.

One of our favorite ways to support breast cancer survivors is by participating in local fundraising walks. In September, we participated in Compassionate Care Foundation's 3rd annual Bridge the Gap event.

Saint Agatha Foundation joined hundreds of community members in crossing the Thousand Islands Bridge to raise over $60k in funding.

We look forward to celebrating with Compassionate Care again next year, as we bring together our shared mission to improve cancer care in Central and Northern New York.
