Members of our team were in Washington DC on Monday to collaborate, learn and advocate for continued support and funding for various programs like FLEX, YES and CBYX which provide scholarships to deserving youth that wish to study abroad.

92% of money appropriated is spent domestically in our local communities and on US students going abroad. That makes our programs incredibly cost effective and one of the best values in international diplomacy. It also helps to further the AFS mission to empower people to become globally engaged citizens, provide meaningful intercultural experiences, and help create a more just and peaceful world through international exchange and education programs.

Thank you to the staffers and offices of Melanie Stansbury, Martin Heinrich and Ben Ray Lujan for taking the time to listen to our stories and our requests.

Three of our students had the opportunity to visit Senator Heinrich's Albuquerque office and learn more about the US government. They asked thoughtful questions and shared about their experiences here in New Mexico including a debate on the spiciness of green chile.

Can you guess who thought green chile was mild and who thought it was too spicy?
