🎉 HAPPY LABOR DAY, FRIENDS! 🇺🇸

I hope you don’t have to work quite as hard today as the baristas in those 7 Brew lines this morning! 😂☕️

But really, the world keeps moving because people are willing to show up, pitch in, and give a little of themselves to make things happen.

That’s especially true here at Cordy’s Castle. From our fosters and volunteers to the people who donate, build cages, deliver supplies, answer messages, transport animals, and help behind the scenes, you all contribute to the progress we make every single day. 🦝🐿️❤️

Thank you to everyone who puts in the work, big or small, to help make a difference.

Lillie found this little guy stunned in her driveway today. She knew when she could catch him something was wrong. She scooped him up, hydrated him well, gave him some rest and in just a few hours he had greatly improved. She took him back outside and he ran off like a normal little chipmunk. 🐿

Sometimes rehab is just an easy case of rest from the elements. We're grateful for our team and their heart for the animals.

And sometimes you don't have to wait for someone else to call- the animal just skips the middle man and goes straight for the rehabber! 😂

NEW ANIMAL 🐦

Maryjo answered the call for an injured Hummingbird when the finders couldn't get return calls from anywhere else.

This Hummingbird cannot fly. His wings don't work. But he can certainly eat so we will care for him until we find answers for him or somewhere more experienced for him to go.

We are not a bird rescue, and don't really have the space or resources for birds, but Maryjo has had good luck rehabbing a couple of birds in the past.

When she is available and accepting new patients, our local bird lady is Rose Hensel in Lanesville. You must leave a voicemail on her landline phone, it doesn't accept texts.

THE SPICE RACK CREW GOES FISHING! 🦝🎣

Our Spice Rack crew got to try their paws at fishing for minnows today… and they absolutely KILLED IT! 😂

Literally. They killed it. 💀🐟

This is exactly the kind of enrichment we want to see as they get closer and closer to release. They’re practicing natural behaviors and learning how to find and catch food for themselves.

In just a few short weeks, these little spice packets will hopefully be out there catching their own meals in the wild!

They’re getting SO close to being wild raccoons again. ❤️
