They're here!

Thank to the generous donation by Briawna Wrighthouse and her employer Mortenson Family Dental, we were able to purchase a veterinary grade laser therapy set!!!

This includes a laser for deep tissue injuries and inflammation, a laser for surface wounds and injuries, and a single diode laser to treat acupressure points and small wounds including mouth wounds! There's also protective goggles for the operator to use.

The doctor who makes these also gave us 2 blue lasers for antibacterial treatment in wound beds, a pair of blue light protection goggles, and a pair of his new spectator goggles for someone standing nearby to watch the therapy.

I cant wait to learn all about these and how we can start using them for the animals.

The Spice Rack Crew is just a few days away from release (THIS WEEK, GUYS 😭😭😭) so Adam made sure they had an amazing safe den to come back to whenever they want.

Over the last couple of months, we've taken in dozens of injured, orphaned, and abandoned baby squirrels. This little guy is our newest arrival!

Thankfully, he's in good shape, but he still needs a name! His eyes just opened on Saturday, and because he's so tiny, he's been staying in the incubator with our tiny flying squirrel. The two of them LOVE cuddling together.

While these babies are getting cozy, let's talk about how wild gray squirrels survive winter! ❄️

🌰 They don't hibernate! They spend fall gathering food and hiding stashes to eat throughout winter. The seeds they forget can grow into new trees!

🏡 They build nests called dreys in trees for shelter and may share nests with other squirrels to conserve warmth.

🥶 They maintain their body temperature year-round and can shiver to generate extra heat.

🛌 And yes, their big, fluffy tails can double as a blanket!

Nature is pretty amazing, isn't it?

It's Emilio!

No, Emilio is not a wild skunk. He's actually just a pet skunk that we have the honor of babysitting for a little bit. He's quite the charmer, loves everyone he meets, and also originally came from Indiana Skunk Rescue just like Lily!

This sweet boy is so soft, so curious, and just wants to run around and explore. Just make sure to move those fingers out of the way when he's going for a bite!
