Where would they play?

We love our city, we love our baseball, and a minor league team would be a perfect fit for our community. We are open to anywhere within Jeffersontown and that will be one of the items that the exploratory committee will research. Ideally, a location in the Bluegrass Commerce Park will not only make it easily accessible to the community but also an excellent amenity to the businesses that call Jef

fersontown home. Jeffersontown is already the home to one of the state's premier youth baseball facilities with Skyview Park. Skyview is set on 29 acres in the Bluegrass Commerce Park, and consists of: three baseball/softball fields, two tee ball fields, one full size baseball field, an announcer's box, concession stand, children's playground, large pavilion, restrooms and soon to be home of Jeffersontown's splash park. With renovations to the large baseball field, this could be one of many possible locations. The team doesn't have to play at Skyview, we just want our community leaders to work with our business leaders and figure out an ideal location for a team to play. But the Louisville Bats are 13 miles down the road...

Yes, but did you know that the Florence Freedom play baseball 13 miles down the road from the Cincinnati Reds? Florence, KY and Jeffersontown share not only similar populations, but are also both suburban cities that are a part of the fabric of a larger metropolitan area. What class of baseball would they play? Any class of professional baseball is better than no professional baseball, but we feel that with Jeffersontown's population (26,595 in the 2010 census), the surrounding community, and Bluegrass Commerce Park (over 850 businesses with over 38,000 employees - largest in the state), the conditions would be perfect for a Class A team (in the Midwest League with Bowling Green, KY) or a Class A-short season (in the Appalachian League). Would the city own the team? We are not advocating that the city of Jeffersontown own the baseball team. We would like the city leaders to help create the conditions favorable for a group of investors to either start a team or relocate a team to Jeffersontown. What would the team be called? That would be for the owners to decide, but it is fun to think of creative team names. What would you name the team?
