Today’s National 4-H Week spotlight is all about CAMP!

Jackson County 4-H’ers have opportunities to explore new places, try new activities, and make friendships that reach beyond their own schools. From Rock Eagle to coastal adventures and mountain experiences, camp gives young people room to grow.

They return home with stories to tell—and often a little more independence, confidence, and courage to try something new. 🍀

🌱 Learning comes to life in Jackson County 4-H!

For today’s National 4-H Week spotlight, we’re celebrating hands-on learning through agriculture, food, and our SAFE shooting sports programs!

Whether members are caring for livestock, learning where their food comes from, preparing a dish, or practicing with their SAFE team, they’re developing responsibility, patience, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

We recently celebrated our Food Showcase participants, including Coleman Balkcom, who earned first place in Chicken BBQ and Master 4-H status! He will represent Georgia at the national competition in Louisville, Kentucky. 👏

Behind every achievement are hours of practice, supportive adults, and a young person willing to try!

🎤 Big ideas. Growing confidence. Bright futures.

Today during National 4-H Week, we’re highlighting Project Achievement!

Jackson County 4-H’ers explore a topic they enjoy, learn something new, and share what they’ve learned with others. From horses and agriculture to cooking, science, and the arts, there’s a project for so many interests!

Along the way, members practice public speaking, research, and organization. One presentation can be the beginning of a young person discovering, “I can do this!” 🍀

We’re proud of every 4-H’er who takes that step—from their first school presentation to the district competition stage!

The Georgia 4-H Foundation has partnered with Front Door Produce to offer fresh Georgia Grown produce boxes, and every box purchased through Jackson County helps support our local 4-H program.

For just $35, you'll receive a 20-pound box of fresh Georgia Grown produce, packed in Moultrie, Georgia.

🍅 What Might Be in Your Green Box?

Each box may include a variety of fresh, seasonal Georgia produce such as:

Bell peppers
Cucumbers
Yellow squash
Zucchini
Green beans
Corn
Cabbage
Satsumas

Because the boxes feature fresh produce, exact contents may vary—but each box will contain approximately 20 pounds of Georgia Grown goodness!

Here's our favorite part: $9 from every box sold comes directly back to Jackson County 4-H!

🍀 Congratulations to our Jackson County 4-H’ers who competed in the Georgia 4-H Food Showcase this weekend!

🍔 Enrique placed 3rd in Turkey Burgers—and this was his very first competition!

🥚 Elin and Scottie earned 2nd place in Egg Preparation in the Junior Division!

🍗 We are also incredibly proud of Coleman for mastering in Chicken Barbecue and becoming a Georgia 4-H Master!

All of our Jackson County 4-H team members did a fantastic job showcasing their culinary skills. We are so proud of their hard work, preparation, and accomplishments! 💚

🎯 Ready, Aim... Join 4-H SAFE!

September is the perfect time to discover Jackson County 4-H **SAFE (Shooting Awareness, Fun, and Education)**! Our SAFE programs teach youth safety, responsibility, sportsmanship, and marksmanship under the guidance of trained 4-H volunteers.

If your 4-H'er is interested in BB or Archery, join us at one of our September Open Houses to learn more!

For 4th–9th Grade Youth

New to BB? Start here! BB 101 is our introductory program for new shooters and focuses on safety, equipment, range procedures, and basic shooting skills.

Youth who would like to join the Jackson County 4-H BB Competition Team in January must first complete BB 101.The Open House is a great opportunity for parents and youth to meet our coaches, learn how the program works, and find out what to expect during BB 101.

🏹 Archery Open House

**For 4th–12th Grade Youth**

🗓️ Program Runs: September–May

Whether your 4-H'er has never picked up a bow or already has archery experience, come learn more about the Jackson County 4-H SAFE Archery Program!

Families will have an opportunity to meet our coaches, learn about practices and equipment, hear about competition opportunities, and ask questions about participating in the upcoming season.

Unlike BB, there is no 101 prerequisite for Archery. New and returning archers are welcome!

You don't need to already know how to shoot to get involved. Our SAFE programs are designed to help youth develop skills progressively while always emphasizing **safety first**.

We got to say THANK YOU to Jackson County Farm Bureau this morning for sponsoring a scholarship for one of our 4-Her's to attend camp this summer!

We recently had the opportunity to meet with the Jackson County Farm Bureau Board and present them with a framed thank-you for sponsoring a scholarship that allowed a Jackson County 4-H’er to attend summer camp.

Their generosity gave this camper the chance to make new friends, try new activities, build confidence, and create memories that will last a lifetime. We are so thankful for community partners like Jackson County Farm Bureau who continue to invest in our young people and support Jackson County 4-H! 🍀💚
