🍳 Fire Up the Grill—or the Stove—for the Georgia 4-H Food Showcase!
Do you love to cook, create new recipes, or show off your grilling skills? Registration is now open for the Georgia 4-H Food Showcase, held September 19, 2026, at Rock Eagle 4-H Center!
The showcase includes four exciting contests: Egg Chef, Chicken BBQ, Turkey BBQ, and Food Challenge. Egg Chef, Chicken BBQ, and Turkey BBQ are open to Junior 4-H’ers in 7th–8th grades and Senior 4-H’ers in 9th–12th grades. No district qualification is required!
🥚 Egg Chef
Grab a teammate and get cracking! Teams have up to one hour to prepare a dish featuring eggs. They will then present an interactive demonstration about eggs to a panel of judges. Indoor cooking areas include a stovetop, oven, microwave, and sink.
Recipes must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on September 2, 2026, and cannot be changed after submission.
🍗 Chicken BBQ
Individual contestants have up to two hours to charcoal-grill four bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs. They will also give a presentation about chicken to the judges.
🦃 Turkey BBQ
Individual contestants have up to two hours to prepare two turkey burgers on a charcoal grill. At least 75% of the burger ingredients must be the ground turkey provided, and each uncooked patty must weigh at least ¼ pound. Contestants will also share a presentation about turkey with the judges.
The State 4-H Office will provide the eggs, chicken thighs, and ground turkey. Contestants must bring all other ingredients and cooking supplies, including grills, charcoal, pots, pans, utensils, and potholders.
The $50 registration fee covers the contest entry fee and practice supplies. Each county may enter up to two contestants or teams per division in each contest, so space is limited!
